Carrying the Flag

If you pick up the flag (gain possession) can you later drop it while still alive? Or is that now considered part of your equipment? Can you hand it off to another live teammate? For that matter, can you throw it to a teammate?

Not that I'd do any of those, but interesting issues that I don't recall seeing in tourney rules.

I'm almost sure you can hand it off, but why would you pick the flag up during a live game?

In some tourneys you get points for grabbing the flag, so it makes sense to grab the flag if you can (it's always a judgment call). You also might get more points if you have possession of the flag and time runs out. If it gets close to time running out and you want to make a dash to hang it, you need to have possession of it, of course.

Sorry, my mind is RaceTo only. No millennium or nppl rulebooks in this mind xD

Makes sense to at least make a dash to get a first pull / tansit point

As for dropping it, last I checked if you drop the flag it has to stay where it is until someone else picks it up, however psp raceto rules say you can't conceal the flag while holding, you get a minor. So I don't know what the rules on dropping it would be

I take that to mean you can hand off the flag but you can't drop it and run more than five feet away.
