Agreed. Got back into paintball and was able to watch the coverage the weekend before I planned to play again, so needless to say I got pretty pumped up and enjoyed watching. I haven't played in 4-5 years so it was a little hard following few players that I remembered but the interviews helped greatly.

On my xbox in the ESPN section, it has all the upcoming live events listed that ESPN will be covering, and it has all of the nppl events listed.. so hopefully they will be covering it

they need to change the flycam though in the snake. kind of seemed pointless that the camera could give away a guy in the snake if there's no coaching in NPPL.

(I was on the field taking pictures, so I know first hand) They only moved the flycam after the other team called out the player in snake. When they call S1 or what not they moved it and video.

Unfortunately, this isn't entirely true. I reffed HB and heard multiple teams call out the snake position because of the camera, even saying, "Look at the camera." So unfortunately, the camera did bird dog a few snake players.

Personally I thought the camera work was not well done at all, and hearing that a few players got caught in the snake due to camera positioning just worsens it. If anyone remembers NPPL coverage back in ~2003? on ESPN it was WAY better. There was a birdseye view of the field and they had really nice digital overlay that showed where players were laning and they actually kept the scoreboard up during the match instead of just randomly showing it for a few seconds. I still loved watching HB this year online just because it's still a great step for the sport and I can't get enough paintball, so even if the cameras are the same and still has so-so announcing, I'd rather Chicago be on ESPN3 than not being broadcasted at all.

I asked a local pro player about that camera giving away the snake positions. He said when you're playing in the game you don't really notice it. So maybe we're making a bigger deal of it from the sidelines than it actually is.

I played D1 at HB and they did a test shoot of a couple of our games and yes there were instances when the camera gave away the snake player but the reffs were doing the same thing and way more often. Personally I didnt even notice the cameras at all while I was playing.

And honestly unless your paying to watch the webcast or actually at the event you opinion on how it was done really doesnt matter.

I get tired of reading post after post of people on here being critical about how these events are run when they dont even attend a single national event in either league. Its really easy to sit in your living room and talk a alot of Sh!t about the people who bust their a$$es to put these events together and make it as affordable as possible. Some of you guys should maybe get off the couch, go practice, get good enough, and go play then maybe someone will respect your opinion about what should happen at the events.

I can officially say that ESPN3 WILL NOT be covering the Chicago NPPL event. They will be covering the future events but we are still working out the logistics. Sorry that this info was not made available sooner. The NPPL and ESPN were trying to make it happen for the Chicago event right up until the last minute but were unable to pull it off...

Check the NPPL website for more details coming up about future webcast and events or just ask me...
