"Sold" Button
If there was a "sold" button or icon that would just show up on the outside part of the thread it would be really helpful to other users wanting to look at it. It could be user set and just take up the space where the icons on the side are to show that there is nothing left for sale.
It's not worded great but hopefully it gets the point across.

I've long disliked editing threads when an item sells. Part of it is that there's no way then to see what exactly had been sold, and it detracts from the ability to price items effectively against the market (ie, seeing what another like mine sold for when a post just says "sold"). I've gone into my own sale threads and added a line at the top stating "sold/thank you", but I leave the info on what was put up.
Having a sold button would be awfully handy... then it's just a matter of getting members to actually use the thing!

I think it would just be nice option to people, basically the same way as editing the top line of the thread would be. Not everyone would end up using it but i'm sure it could cut down on some of the sold threads.

One snag I could see is someone coming to an arrangement on a deal, hitting "sold" before money/product change hands, and the buyer backing out. We'd probably want some way of unclicking the button. There would also have to be some way of having a sold status mark the thread visibly, or just locking it, although for the reason above, locking might not be the best idea.

If it could just be like a button option that you could click either Sold or just Off or something like that to disable it and could be changed at any time i think it would work.

you could make the "sold" button available to the seller/op only?

That would be the point. He was meaning if you changed it to sold when you were working out a deal and then they backed out. Thats why i think it should be a simple option to say Sold or have nothing there at all.

This is a good idea, but it'll need some tweaking. Main reason: Lots of people on here, including me, put more then one item up for sale in a certain thread.. so obviously if you have 4 items up for sale in one thread, and one sells, you can't put that icon on the side of the thread because there's still 3 more items up for sale.

Exactly. That's why it would need to be user set and you could choose to do it whenever you wanted to so if you had multiple items listed you could wait until they were all gone or just not put it up at all.

Good idea. I think it would come in handy when ever item in the thread was sold or the single item was sold. For multiple items being sold at different times you can just edit the first post and list the sold items there, although we all know nobody reads anymore. This idea is solid and worth a shot. Hopefully pbn can find a way to make this a reality.

Nothing official. We do read the Suggestions section regularly, though. Changes take time to put into action, if anything were to be changed.

I like the idea of when it is sold, you can click, and an icon will show up, for example in the electronic marker section, next to the thread. Everyone would use this, and i think It would become second nature just like the BUMP button. Also, the thread could be reopened if a deal falls through.
Locking the thread while "sold" option is selected would be useful as well, and maybe even disabling the BUMP button while "Sold" is selected

Hmm. I like it. Maybe create a new mod for this. Kinda like they do in the theft forum. When a issue is resolved, they put resolved by the title. This new mod would have to be pm'ed by both the buyer and seller before the title would say "Sold" by it or something like that.
I vote NOT to be elected for the new mod spot. Sucks to be him/her.
