I think they did a good job overall. Only complaint might be that if there was ever a trade where one player shot the other first, the refs never made a discretion call like that they just pulled them both if they had paint on them. This is the right thing if you don't know who shot who first, things happen fast, but I felt like there were several instances I watched where it was obvious who shot who first and they refs wouldn't let the guy stay in.

I was a little bummed I drove 3+ hours to "spectator participate" for a local HS team, just to be told at the start of the 1st game the was no coaching from anyone for HS teams. It was the same for everyone so I'm good with it, but it just really sucked there was a communication breakdown somewhere.
Although still love to the guys on the HS field, they were stretched thin, had a rough morning, and I'm fairly sure there were a couple of substitutes filling in. But I still think they still did a really good job.

Advice for the thread: "how to open a paintball store"
NastyShock3r: hey guy's i live in miami i need help to open a paintball store can anyone help or can tell me what i need to do?
midstatepaintball: That's easy! Just push on the front door of the store if it says "push", or pull on the door if it says "pull".

from a coaching perspective, the reffing was good. I thought they could have thrown more majors in a number of situations.

Understaffed, and not as aggressive checking players on field 2.

Chris posted here on pbnation that there would be the same coaching as AA. So we had friends drive from Tampa to help then were rejected.
Also, We got a minor for yelling hit while we got out? Apparently that was dead man talking or something.
Overall decent reffing.

I was impressed- much better than last year. A few of the refs seemed less confident in themselves/ their knowledge of the rules but in general it went well.

I had wonderful experiences with the reffs. After one point when i was called out off break the reff found me to explain where he saw the hit and stuff because I looked frustrated. In truth I was just mad at myself but still, this was the norm from what I saw.

Reffing on Field 3 was awesome. The head ref was very informative about who was up, giving time in between back to back games and explaining various calls/justifications on the field. Props to those guys.

We had no communication who was on the field. We had a schedule, but in round three not a single game was announced. We had players standing near the tent listening, exactly like we were told in the captains meeting.
Since it was round three we didn't know who was on the field, and the head ref/field staff, or anyone one involved for that matter made no effort to call us onto the field. We were waiting in the pits ready to walk out on the field and we didn't know it was us suppose to be at the opposite end of the field. It wasn't like we weren't ready to go. So we end up forfeiting the point and put us at 2-2 missing the potential chance at 3-1 and moving on.
I wasn't going to bring it up, until I was informed by several teams, photographers, and other people they actually yelled for teams and waited on the other field. I accept fault in not asking, but after hearing other fields held the play to get the game on when it would have literally taken 15 seconds for us to get to the other field it's disappointing. Or how our team had to wait on another team since his gun/tank went down. I was told by the head ref, they were understaffed with 7 refs. Why is it that when we had to run an event in our conference we had to have a set number of refs or our field could be fined, yet you're understaffed at this event?

this happened ALLLLLLLLLLL DAY. The only guy who made calls was the head ref on field three on Saturday. The guy with the long gray pony tail is by the the best head ref I've ever seen. He was great last year and great this year as well

I was really impressed with the refs on field 2 on Saturday. Very professional and did a great job. Now on Sunday there were a few questionable calls. Our team pretty much lost the Ocho finals on field 2 because I got a hopper hit and the ref decided to throw a major penalty. Never seen a major penalty for a hopper hit. And the next game we got a major for a our player that went up to the "A" off break. He got shot out at the beginning of the game and they assessed the penalty about 30-40 seconds after he was in the deadbox. But it's paintball and it's the refs digression. Over all was good

Reffing was much better than last year. Only "bad" call we got was a ref at the 50 Dorito called our snake player our for a hit that he apparently saw hit and break but left no paint on him. He told the ref closest to our player to check him, which he did finding no paint on him and calling him clean. The ref at the 50 Dorito then ran across the field and pulled our player. Seems like a bit much too me and it definitely impacted the outcome of that game. Also, the out of bound markers were not very well defined. Sure, the player should take the responsibility for knowing the boundaries. That being said, I think it would take literally 5 minutes on the field's part to do a better job than spray painting dots in the sand every 5 feet.

Agreed on the out of bounds lines, those should have been more clearly marked. Probably the only major flaw with the fields.... sand is bad, but can't fix that.

Refs on field 2 were great on saturday. Sunday, however, was a different story. They weren't awful, but they weren't as good as they were on saturday.
