And those other "90%" don't play xball, which is what this thread concerns.

a big part besides travel is in the entry - for class A you pay 3600 (or 3800 - you get the picture) and it covers your whole conference season (3 events) and nationals entry wise - so you play about 12-15 matches a season guaranteed (not counting ncpa nationals playoff rounds)

to play d2 psp you pay 3100 bucks to be guaranteed 4 race to 5 matches - and you play 4 events. Thats 12,400 in entry alone to play guaranteed if you never make the cut 16 race to 5 matches let alone the cost of flying to 4 events - rental cars 4 times - paint expenses 4 times - you get the picture

psp only does the race to format because if you played the amount of paintball you play at ncpa nationals at psp 4 times a year you would be more poor than we all already are.

if regional leagues (affiliates) got their **** together and all played the same format (two 10 minute halfs for an example) - then top 3 from the season or some predetermined number of teams move on to a playoff (like ncpa nationals) - younger and less experienced players would get much more play time for their costs. for those like myself who have played d2 or above - well we are just screwed to be honest

Ohio gets no funding, despite our well-knownness #wereallbroke

I liken it to College vrs Pro football. Similar game, but with some noticable rule differences. Neither one is better.

Once again... apples to oranges. The PSP is an entirely different series. In the NCPA you'll get teams that have a core of middle-of-the-pack players sprinkled with a few PSP players. In the PSP you obviously get all PSP players. I would equate most Class A teams to a division 4 xball team in the PSP, with the exception of certain NCPA teams that have been fortunate enough to build up a roster of experienced players. I thoroughly enjoyed nationals last year and saw some solid teams, but I'd be lying if I said that the NCPA is more competitive than the PSP. When I go play a PSP event, I'm doing it because I'm playing in the premier American national league with players that know exactly what they're doing, and I expect to grind it out with some of the best teams in the country. When I go play an NCPA event, I'm doing it because it's cheap, it's fun, and it beats sitting through a 2 hour engineering lecture.

Yah, I was shown my error in that assumption.

To break the trend, we actually get a lot of funding from our school...

There is a pretty large difference in amount of paint used in raceto and traditional xball. However, I've never had as much fun playing the traditional style as I have had playing any other. Reason why I've started shying away from PSP and focusing more on playing NCPA.

I hope NCPA leaves their format alone for a long long time. It is so much more interesting to watch than PSP now.
