Play for 3rd and 4th
Considering the way the brackets are set up can either make or break your team's advancements in the tournament, I think if you make it to Sunday you should play out the two losing teams for 3rd and 4th. I mean, why not? Aside from my bias, I just think it would be better. We didn't even play UConn the entire tournament so I thought it might give us a chance to snag 3rd. I'm not at all taking away from the fact that UConn deserved 3rd, I believe they did. They played REALLY well. But when your determining the top spots in the tournament, I don't think the win-loss record for the tournament should be the only thing that decides the outcome. I think they should just play out one more match. That's all.
Congrats to UT, Cal State, and UConn for a great tournament!! God bless and have safe travels everyone!

I would have liked to see a 3rd and 4th place game but perhaps it was in the interest of time, space, and cost to not do it.

I could understand that... However they did have a LOT of time between our match and the Finals. They don't NEED to webcast it either. Man, I was havin fun! I don't want to go home yet haha

Then don't.
You guys played great, the sportsmanship Liberty displayed overall was pretty refreshing to see as well. All the teams showed good sportsmanship this tournament really. You don't really see that much sometimes, it was a nice thing to be able to witness.

Great to hear man! We appreciate that! It's hard in a game like this to keep your head up after you lose, but I was impressed with what I saw as well, especially from UConn after the semi-finals

3rd and 4th is determined by your standing at the end of the regular season.
I don't think we would be able to get another match on the TV field and still get everything else we need to done, but we could do it on another field, if the teams wanted to spend the paint.

Oh ok that was a misunderstanding then.
Something to consider for next year I suppose.. It just seems like it would make more sense for the national championships. Thanks for the response Chris!

Chris may correct me if I am wrong here. I believe when we started Class A we asked the teams if they wanted to play for 3rd/4th and the opinion at the time was "no, we would rather save the money". So it probably changes from team to team and year to year. We could probably just check with both teams if they wanted to do this, though it does sort of throw us off as we had already started to disassemble much of the other fields before the finals match even began. (Staff wants to get home too)

I don't think you should ask the two teams if they want to do it, it needs to be a set rule start of the season... otherwise whoever is third right then will probably say no every time

Liberty, you guys spanked the **** out of us, but you guys were GREAT ballers and an awesome bunch of guys. Granted, we only had 7 rostered players, and then 6 after that 10 minute gun penalty. I completely agree that the brackets were definitely made to make or brake your teams chances of winning. I didn't really understand the brackets after they were revised.

This was a thought that crossed my mind as well. Either go with it or don't. Depending on how well you did that season can affect whether or not you want to play out 3rd and 4th. Although someone who looks to be a UConn player agreed with the OP so I guess it really was a good idea

Appreciate it man! You guys held your own in the tournament though! Good show! Those penalties can really kill you.. We figured that out in the Semi-Finals.

Tottaly agreed, their should be a 3rd/ 4th match. In a way the previuos seed points make the tournament sooo unfair. For example we FAU went 4 and 1 lost to Ten. in ochos.and Univ of Maryland didnt win a single match and placed higher than us!!!!!!(they placed 6th, and we got 7th) , how is this fair?i mean reahl runs a good orginzation but i feel their need to be a few changes.......

I agree that the brackets did make or break teams and their places.
In addition to that, anyone know why Maryland had a bye for OCHO finals yet they lost all 3 prelims and finished 2nd to last in the regular season? Something I'm still confused about.....

Because they weren't second to last in the regular season... they won their conference...
