I highly doubt that the bottoms were tested for the sport of paintball. So.. I am going to venture to say that they are not legal for paintball. But, clearly that isnt stopping people from using them.
Just because the boat bottom fits the spectra frame does not mean it's legal for paintball. The spectra frame is used in many different applications.

I dont see why the JT Fast Boat's wouldn't be ok.
Per ASTM F1776, the standard used for paintball masks, masks are used to first protect your Eyes, then ears and face are secondary.
As I understand it, on the JT Fast Boat mask you can adjust the vents on the bottoms. As long as the bottom of mask protects a direct hit then you should be ok.

Fast boat bottoms, they were trying to spread to other markets, and tanked as far as I know. I bought 2 for like $5 each on Ebay from I&I Sports i believe. They're cool, but a lil heavier, they have more hard plastic on em, and you get a lot more echo. But they're so cheap, if you're intrigued just pick them up.
Hope this helps.
