NT Bolt Insert Question / Problem

Ok so I'm new to the NT but I just picked up a used 2010 and pulled it apart to clean and lube it.

When I unscrewed the can and pulled out the bolt there was no insert in the bolt and no spacers in the back. Thankfully the kid gave me both and they were in the case. Spacers were no problem however the insert does not seem to go into the bolt far enough.

I can see the edge of the soft tip bolt face and there appears to be a milled aluminum step in there. When I put an insert into the bolt it butts up against that step, when I put the everything back together the bolt sticks out about half way into the breach.

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

Did you put the insert in backwards?

From the FAQ post #4 with pics of how it should go in/look.

It's in the proper way, I've checked the manual, the FAQ's in this thread as well as online vids.

Can someone tell me if the top of the spacer sits flush up against the bottom of the black rubber on the soft tip bolt?

Did you put the soft tip in first or the insert. Could be the problem its not going in and after i took a plastic oring pick and pull it up tight so the small end goes inside the soft tip

It's def not inside the soft tip, it doesn't look like it will fit inside there though. I tried pushing it in with the handle end of a swap and it doesn't want to go any further.
