Rekindling An Old Flame: Assault 80 Q's
Hello All.
When I was younger, I had an Assault 80, it broke, and I ended up selling it. I recently saw one for sale, and picked it up out of nostalgia. It should be coming in any day now, but I have a few general questions about it (I went to PBLibrary, watched some youtube videos, and read the manual, but there is very little info out there on it).
I'm sure you guys get these questions all the time, but
What threads are the Assault 80's feedneck? Or at least what would be a comparable thread. I actually plan on using it, and the feedneck on there no just won't do.
Can you put an aftermarket HPR on an assault? I remember when I had mine (back when I was 14) the HPR went down and that was my problem. I am wondering if you can put one on it without modification, and if you were to make a custom VASA, would the assault operate with an Aftermarket HPR (assuming it was a quality one, AKA or so).
Last question, does anyone have a wiring diagram?
Thanks for all the help in advance.

Feedneck is a proprietary thread (7/8 27npt) close to NXT but isn't correct and won't hold well with the limited thread contact on the A-80. I have a die that I used for my A-80's to put CP's on them. Turned out fairly well.

HPR also has a proprietary connection, but if you get an adapter made any reg that puts out 100-200 psi reliably should work. Or you could run a female Stabilzer on the grip to the stock reg after gutting it to just act as an air through.
As for wiring diagram I'll see if I have a pic of the back cap/board on my pc. If not I'll get one of it later.
This is what I have on hand, from when I was bringing one back to life.
Battery harness is soldered to the board. First 2 connections on the terminal are to the trigger switch right most 2 are for the solenoid.
The MOST important mod you could do is cut a piece of plastic or cardboard to fit inside the main body between the bolt and chamber for the wiring so your wires don't get guillotined (like above).

I've seen it for sale a few years back but the seller changed his mind and pulled the listing.

Ok, so quick question:
Got my assault in the mail a week or so ago, and just aired it up today. It seems like assaults have really bad bolt stick or something, cause when I air them up, they just kind of "puft" and not fully cycle. Even my black one, which I had shooting at velocity before I put it away for a week or two, is now back to "pufting".
I was wondering, what is the proper procedure for airing up and tuning an A-80? I have just been trying to balance the regs, but after the solenoid incident, my confidence in tuning guns has been shaken.

Sounds like your LPR spiked/failed to regulate.
After a complete rebuild normally I just back out the LPR all the way, put the HPR to 150ish (for max fps of ~270ish). Screw in the LPR until the solenoid begins to vent then back out a full turn.
Normally I use a oil/grease mix in A80's since non thinned grease makes sticking problem worse (for me anyway).
