Idk why people don't like the coasties. They handle all the littoral stuff that we do on boring local ops.
I do have one gripe though. If you're going to steal our enlisted rank names, at least keep the same insignia. The Petty Officers Crow is replaced with a Shield, and the Chiefs anchor has a big shield placed in the middle.

i dont understand the whats so amusing about "puddle pirates". Working in deeper water doesn't make your more masculine, just means you spend longer amounts of time at sea with less action. I'm a ME (maritime enforcement) and if or when I get out i will be able to get a job anywhere as a Federal Government worker with a career field pertaining to law enforcement.

i heard that so most went reserve and then activated once they were at their unit. but it was to my understanding that once the economy took a huge drop people began joining for job security and thats what the large wait was from. i got a basic date with only a 3 month wait and that was last may

Does that mean I talk to a recruiter? Or does the Coast Guard have a special recruiter for officers like the Marines do?

And your basing that off of your vast amounts of sea time right?
Submarines have two jobs for the most part. Gather intelligence, and kill everything it can find.
So you enjoy puttering up and down our Coasts, I'll be busy being somewhere that I never was, doing something that I never did.

so you think. It's not that easy. Being in the field while serving does help but not that much. I do over flow work with Customs and Border Patrol before I went over to a full time Firefighter job. And trust me you're not getting out of the cost guard and moving right in to TSA or CaB or anything like that.
You'll have to get your degree and apply just like every other person out there.

I work at a PSU unit and its not like we "putter around doing the same ole same ole. We get deployed for up to 11 months every three years to various locations to preform port security for your ***. so just because your deep under water doesnt make you more militarized or more of an asset in society. we both go to work you just go for longer periods of time.. . . sucks for you ( no paintball on the weekends) ha
