I currently believe that Libya's geographical position in the world is far too tumultuous for the U.S. to intervene right now. Had Egypt's revolt not just occurred, maybe, but the North West African coast is about to ****in explode.

It's exploding right now, but there's gonna be a bigger explosion pretty soon. The Ivory coast is shooting civilians (particularly a march of women who protested the president who wouldn't leave after losing the election), Bahrain as I've said is shooting civilians, and Libya has gone full retard. Sudan is about to split in half and (insert another African country here) is going ape**** too. But of course I understand you all know this, not trying to insult your intelligence.

That's why I was floored and breathed a sigh of relief when Egypt resolved their situation peacefully. Their military could have turned it bloody and the only safeguard the people knew they had is that a few years ago they passed an amendment that made their judiciary independent from their executive so the protesters who went to court could feel safe from Mubarak. We all know we would be the first with troops on the ground for our bff Egypt and America cannot sustain another armed conflict and I doubt the people here would put up with it if we just sent troops all over North Africa and kept up the fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The UN and NATO will step in. That's how this usually goes.

Speaking of Afganistan, whenever I seem to read about it they are always talking about how we have the highest troop #s over there yet. I mean goddamn, we just keep shipping 'em in.

Who will the UN and NATO use? They'll either want us or one of our best friends. If they send in someone like Germany or the UK (the two top contenders IMO), those two countries will want us to go in with them, especially Britain. Regardless the US is getting involved.

And yeah we've been sending in more and more to Afghanistan. Ever seen Restrepo? Amazing documentary and I think it shows that the majority of what we do now is try to build relations with the locals by offering them jobs and industry as well as building trust to flush out the Afghanistan. I personally think that shows we're going to be stuck there for a long time.

I've been on a 3 day bender. I somehow made it home tonight. Somebody gave me some hydrocodone or some strong painkillers or some **** and I passed the **** out on day 2. I also apparently made this sweet vest out of a denim jacket I never wear and subsequently look like a dirty biker, and i don't remember if I was sleeping in this picture or not. Break was fun even if it was spent nowhere near a beach and the beginning of it was working 14 hour days. I need a haircut.
