Sliding/Diving for beginners?

Hey everyone, Im looking for some diving and sliding techniques that most beginners start with. Any info/youtube videos would help. I just started the sport, so I honestly doubt I can do most of the things I see on tournament games . Thanks in advance!
P.s When I slide, am I supposed to use my hands first, or my legs (I'd assume I'd mess up my wrist if I started w/ my hands...)?

First off, invest in padding. Elbow pads, knees pads, and slider shorts. Then find a nice big area that you can just run around and throw yourself on the ground. I had a nice long hallway with wood floors that I would just run back and forth and practice my dives. Just remember the object is to smoothly glide across the ground not to just flop down like an injured animal.

Hm, I keep trying but I guess I do it too slow...do you know where I can find tips that show me how to do it step by step?
Actually...im going to keep sliding in my backyard until I get it right, I suppose that's the best way to learn!

like anyone is going to read this...

Well, most people I know slide in thier own "unique" way; for example, when i slide I support the weight of my upper and as much of the middle part of my body as I can with my elbows and forearms. With my lower body I raise my feet off the ground (not alot just enough to stop some friction) and keep my leg rotated to the sides and bent so if the slide stops short, i can put my feet into the ground and start kicking to where i need to go.

If you look at the slide in a scientific way the slide works like so,

Initial velocity (the speed when you jump) - the force of impact (when you first hit the ground) - the friction of your body (against the ground during the motion) +or - the weather (wet = less friction; dry = more friction) = The dristance of you slide.

But, like Gein said, invest in some equiptment and find a hallway. Practice make perfect.

what you do is put a team member on the opposite side of the field then you, your job is to breakout and dive into the snake without being hiit by the guy on the other side of the field who will be shooting that lane, get it? its one thing to dive its another thing to dive while being shot at

Have your tank resting on your forearm closest to tape side when you dive so the tank does not slap the ground and smack you in the face. When you dive try getting your self as low and parallel to the ground as possible before you dive. This will transmit more momentum and energy towards carrying you forward instead of directly into the ground. Pic below is of me mid-dive to 50 dorrito to show you what I mean by parallel to the ground. I generally try to extend my arms forward as if reaching for the bunker I'm diving to. This will help keep your profile lower and direct your body. Your forearms and chest should take the brunt of your weight when you dive while your legs should be the last thing to hit. If your legs hit first they will at least slow you down and at most flip you over so you smack your face and possibly hurt your knees. When your arms hit make sure your elbows are bent and extended past 90 degrees or you can and will hurt your elbow and/or shoulders.

Best place to practice is and always will be a nice muddy field. Nice and soft and forgiving if you jack up and you won't go anywhere if you have the wrong angle.

Personally, I still favor the baseball slide because I can shoot while I slide that way...

Great advice in here...

Baseball slide - if you are good enough, you can also pop back up to a standing position without much effort.

Ie dig your heel with your knee slightly bent at the end of the slide.

Like earlier go check out you tube. Type in superman slide. Paintball tech pb makes the vid. It runs down the three major slides. What you need to wear (pads, etc). Does and don'ts of the superman slide. Along with everyone there is some good stuff in this thread. The vid helped me with being able to see the slide.

It is also harder to seriously **** yourself up when sliding.

Thanks for the pics man, I have been trying to figure it out as well. I am in the process of trying to find somewhere where I can slide in peace.
