On other forums I am a part of, there is a minimum requirement to even view their B/S/T. IMO, this is useful for keeping spammers out.

You won't see their B/S/T until you hit 50 posts.

Sounds good however I think it would increase the amount of pointless posts just to get the post count up. (Example= see Small Talk)

I don't think 50 posts is right. Something more like 5, or 10. You could use the Vbulletin notice module and have a notice at the top stating you need 10 posts to use the B/S/T forum just so people know exactly how many posts they need.

It does create a lot of pointless posts though.

Yea, I definitely get where your coming from.

As owning a few forums myself, it's really based on the crowd that come to your forum. It will always induce spam with someone, would this even possibly drive away members due to them having to make posts?

How about they can read the forum, but cannot post threads in it, but can post replies to others threads?
