On December 12th, we will be holding tryouts for a new Pev's D2/D3 7-Man paintball team. We have 2-3 core players that have been playing a lot together and we are looking to get to a 10 man roster. The team will be applying for the Pev's sponsorship which includes free paint and entry to each of the NPPL events (the first event is April 1-3, 2011). We have close ties with the Pev's field and feel we have a legitimate chance at getting it. We will disclose more details about sponsorships at the tryouts.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for dedicated players who have both time and money to play. We will be practicing at a minimum of twice a month. Practices throughout the winter will depend on the whether. You do not have to have extensive tournament experience to come out. Everybody is welcome to tryout. We want players with drive and determination to win.

My Bio: My name is Bobby Bowen and I have been playing paintball for about 11-12 years. I live in Leesburg and am only about 15 minutes from Pev's. I am 22 and I played my first tourney when I was 11. I have played in many different series including: EXP, NPPL/USPL, PSP, CFOA, CVPL, PAP, PTS, Skyline, etc. etc. I have played on many different teams including AG Onslaught, Power House, Team Driven/VA Driven, DC Confidential, Riot Kids, Virginia Tech X-ball, etc. etc. I have played D1-D3 in the past years and am currently ranked D3 since most of my national history was in high school. While in college I played on the VT Xball team which does not effect your ranking. I have placed first in events from CFOA, PAP, PTS, CVPL and a lot more local events. I am an engineer at BAE Systems where I interned throughout college. At first I was hoping to jump on an existing Pev's team but I do not want to play for a team that isn't organized or dedicated. This team will be a structured team or we will not go to events. I am a very friendly and easy going guy but I will be very serious when it comes to the team. I will also welcome everybody on the team to help support in running the team. This will not be a dictatorship.

I talked with Megan (manager of the field) today and got everything set up for tryouts. We are hoping to fill 6-7 more spots on a 10-man roster. So there is definitely a good opportunity to jump on the team. I have gotten lots of feedback but keep the PMs coming.

For the first tryout date (12/12/2010), be at Pev's ready to go at 10:45AM. We will meet at the picnic tables and then head straight over to the field. By 10:45 make sure that you are ready to walk on the field (this means that you have already gotten dressed, geared up, and paid entry).

I am looking for your name, phone number, experience, preferred position, city you live in, whether you are/are not in school, do you have transportation, do you have money for practice and travel, and NPPL/USPL rank.

Bobby's definitely a legit captain, I played with him for several years when we both playing for Virginia Tech's paintball team

You won't find a better all around player... starting off the break to closing games, Bobby is a player you can definitely trust to handle his role and dominate the opposing team

I have talked with the manager of the Pev's field and have gotten us discounted rates for tryouts. Both paint and entry fee will be discounted. We will be getting the typical team practice rates for the day. (paint will be cheaper than what you can get it at the store for). Pev's is a FPO field by the way.

Will this be on either of the turf fields or the grass field? Want to make sure I got my cleats ready.

It will definitely be on one of the turf fields. Which turf field will depend on the number of walk-ons that are playing turf. I will find out for sure which field of the 2 turf fields Sunday morning. For tryouts it really does not matter which one we use.

Yes, we are playing rain or shine both Sundays. I have to submit a roster and resume by 12/31. Dress warm and prepare for the chance of rain. Hopefully the rain will hold off until the afternoon or Monday.

Any info on pricing to entry and paint?

Even if it changes to some snow instead. Flurries and a snow shower are much easier to play in.

Pricing is team pricing for now. $35/case of paint. Entry will be paid in groups of 8 (this is a weird thing Pevs does). $20/group of 8. So plan on a $40 practice. These are the typical Pevs team practice prices. Further prices once we have everything set may decrease.
