unscrew the board so that the screws are stil in the holes, press the button so that it can move the board, then screw the board down in that position. Or loosen the screws like before and just press the board forward towards the trigger and reg(inline) so that the board will have more space.
make sure you have no scraps of anything on the board that could be causing a short.
if you leave your batteries inside the gun when in storage, they tend to die on some of the dye stock boards

The DM8 is a tight fit on a lot of boards. I had to loosen the board screws and push it forward a bit, retighten the screws, and slightly bend the button contacts before mine would quit sticking.

Battery life, however, was never an issue for me. It sounds like you may have a short.

An electrical short circuit - any little piece of conductive material bridging two components on the board could lead to a short circuit if the components do not have a coating on them to shield them. Dirt, paint or water could have the same effect.

I took a dremel to the plastic buttons directly on the board. They are very soft, so only a little sanding made a perfect gap between the metal button and the board. Now the button has a very positive click, and there is no question when the switch has been tripped.
