As you can see the biggest thing is not a particular matrix being the best shooting but knowing how to tune your matrix.
If you go with a dm8, im pretty sure you will like it as long as you put in a dm9 eye pipe and maybe a new trigger depending on personal preference.

ive had guys shoot my gun and be amazed on how smooth and quiet it is,2 guys with luxes asked me to do a straight trade on the field for my dm9
ive kept it stock and taken care of it since 08 commanders cup,it has near none kick and really super quiet and smooth but if you want get a dm8 and put the eye pipe in,dm8s shoot really nice as well

ive owned many guns. just a abreviated list includes timmies, dm's of all sorts, borgs, marqs, shockers, egos and angels. out of dms ive owned dm9, dm7, pm8, pm6 and matrix lcd. the lcd was smooth as hell but inefficient (no gold bolt just stock with tadao board). out of all the newer dm's i have to say my dm7 is the best shooting ive owned. i would reccomend any of them. hell if youre trying to save some loot buy a pm8. same design pretty much as the dm9 minus the newer eyepipe.

i picked up a used dm7 for cheap. i dont know how many cases have been through this gun, but the bolt feels polished to the touch. i run the lpr pretty low, and it is the smoothest gun i have ever shot. i tried the luxes a bit but IMO they are not even close to as smooth.

This. I don't understand how some think the luxe is smoothestest. That gun has great features, but smoothest shot simply isn't one. Maybe there is a secret tune trick I don't know about?

luxes shoot incredibly smooth,
It all depends on the tunigng though, because ive seen Dms that were quieter than luxes, and luxes that were quieter than Dm's

although on the whole, I think luxes might be quiter overall.

if you tune them right they all shoot well. my dm9 was tuned my a dye tech friend of mine and there is basically no kick i love it. he turned a stock dm9 into one that shoots better than my teammates dm9 which has the bw bolt and all that ****. id rather shoot my dm9 than a luxe 9 times outta 10 they are a little long for me imo

That was my breaking point....The luxe, while a great gun, is too something...Just do not like the feel as well..

Honestly a well broken in and tuned dm will shoot regardless of the year. My favorites were the sm5 I still have and my old dm7 though. The dm7 was the 1 gun I regret getting rid of.

Enjoy your new dm8

If the person on the other end of your gun does not walk away from the game eagerly anticipating the next game because of your actions, you have failed as a paintballer. Put this in your sig to help spread the word.

If you want the absolute smoothest shooting gun on the market, find a Vintage Matrix and put a properly tuned Slam Bolt in it. ZERO kick and no noise.

I have a DM7 with a Tech T L7 Bolt Kit and Hater Eyes and when I hook up a LP tank it's ridiculous how effecient and quiet the gun is... I never break a ball and the new light weight bolt makes zero kick and shoots so smooth. The only thing to keep in mind when getting any DM is that you gotta keep that baby clean and well lubed!
