I just don't get why NPPL
Doesn't host a Florida event. There is so much talent here and 30+ competitive paintball teams.
I understand the money is in Cali, but NPPL Tampa/Jacksonville never failed and was always a great turnout.

Who knows it might change, traditionally I think xball was east coast, 7 man is west coast.. maybe it will change with the advent of wcppl, and all the new xball leagues..

having played 7man for years now, I don't know of any dedicated 7man teams in florida anymore besides damage and my own team for 2011.
a couple of years ago you had rage, damage, devious, victory and maybe couple of others but I don't think Florida has ever been a 7man state.
So if know any 7man teams please let me know.

Texas feels the same way, but, it has a lot to do with weather and scheduling. Florida and Texas are notorious for high temps and bad luck with hurricanes.

id rather not go to florida unless they did miami again. id actually prefer 4 california events. i dont care about flying out there, hb is the best event. id even go for something like: hb, san diego, san fran, and vegas.

pretty sure tournout for jacksonville was bad. tiny tradeshow etc.
Miami was pretty sweet despite the hurricane the week before...but some fields on turf some on grass wasnt that great...I think that was the last tourney with two stages and bands playing

Yes Jacksonville turn was bad for sure. Might be because PSP had MAO just 1 week earlier S.C . and the vendors and people did want to go straight from one tourney to another. I know that what kept me from going. But Tampa always had a great turnout and I don't see why it wouldn't again if they brought it back.

I'm a big fan of NPPL! But to grow the sport, to grow the league NPPL MUST commit to more than 4 tournaments annually and yes the NPPL misses a lot of opportunity by not hosting in the southwest and southeast states. Yes Florida and Texas weather can change on a dime, but why schedule games during hurricane season? What about Colorado, Oklahoma or others.
Stop scheduling games in the hot states during the summer. Avoid the coastal cities during hurricane season. Have an 8 game season. There are plenty of fields in these cities that NPPL can partner with to make more events happen at a reduced cost to the league. Lets face it, the league is not relying on heavy crowd attendance like other sports. More tournaments gives more teams the opportunity to play a national event. Once they play a national event they are more likely to go the “World Series” in Vegas. Think about Vegas being a 4 or 5 day event because so many teams want to play. The only way to get there is to give more teams (people) the opportunity to play.
Las Vegas generated over $160,000 in team entry fees alone, if everyone paid the early bird prices. Yes a tournament is expensive, but if local fields were used and NPPL shared a percentage of entry fee’s (5% of 160K = 8,000) the field would make more in one weekend than do would all month.
Run the season like this:
April- Huntington Beach, CA NPPL field
May- Daytona, FL Local field
June- Chicago, IL NPPL field
July- Denver, CO Local field
Aug- DC NPPL field
Sept- OKC, OK Local field
Oct- Houston, TX Local filed
Nov- World Series Las Vegas, NV NPPL field
Wow, that’s the same 2011 schedule, but with 5 added tournaments with limited cost to the NPPL. You know, you don’t need the pro teams at every event to draw dedicated players with local teams and huge potential as players.
As Albert Einstein said; A perfection of means, and confusion of aims, seems to be our main problem.
He also said; Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I doubt that many teams would commit to 8 tournaments a year. That's going to get expensive for a lot of teams after airfare, hotels, etc. Some teams play in the PSP, as well.

You can't just add two guys to your Xball line up and expect to even do mediocre at an NPPL event...

That's the whole point! Who wants to see the same teams at the same events. More events would give more teams the opportunity to play. Look at last years events and the same group of teams were in the top 3-4 every time. To determine annual series champs NPPL could simply take the top 4-5 scores, or to make it easier to understand, drop 3-4 lowest scores for eah team. If a team did not attend 3 events and got zeros, it wouldn't hurt their chance at series title.
Using local field is the same thing and a regional tournament. It has to be an NPPL event to give you credit. There is no reason to "qualify" its not a select world series, it an "open" event. This is just a way to get more teams involved.

I think just about everyone involved does. There is no point in traveling to an event if you aren't going to play the best teams in the country in your division.
