PUMP Tournament Beginning at QuickShot Paintball in NJ
There is some local interest at the QuickShot Paintball Field in Shamong, NJ to start a pump paintball tournament series, and we would like to gauge interest from the pumpers on PBNation to get feedback on what individuals and teams would be looking for in the series.
http://www.quickshotpaintball.com/
QuickShot already has a solid SupAir field that is easily fielded as a 5 man speedball field. We also have a substantial woodsball field that is constantly developing and being improved upon. The location is within 1.5 - 2 hours of New Jersey (obviously), Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New York and we would love to be able to provide premium pump paintball tournaments to the area. Thats where YOU come in. What we want to know is what sort of tournament series would appeal to the most players in the Tri-State area.
We would like to try the format over the Winter (starting in late November, early December) with as many teams who continue to play over the colder months. We would probably limit this to the woodsball for the Winter and focus on starting "Season 1" in the Spring with a game every month from around April through October. The events would be field paint only, however multiple grades of paint are available for purchase and would allow teams to choose which paint they would like to shoot. We would encourage teams to pre-register so that those travelling longer distances were guaranteed the best tournament possible.
We are looking into a 3/5/7 man tournament series which would rotate between woodsball and airball. As it stands the heaviest interest is in open class pump 5-man format, however we would like to hear from you and if this is something your teams would be interested in.
Thanks for your time and any feedback.
-Kyle,
GotKills?/ QuickShot Paintball
11/29/10 UPDATE:
Just so we dont hold anyone's weekend plans up, this event will have to be rescheduled due to a lack of availability from the majority of interested parties.
We will aim for something early next year however we will keep this thread going for those with interest or ideas for the event between now and then. Please post here of PM me with any questions. Thanks again guys!

Thanks for the feedback. Do you play on a team or solo currently as far as pump goes?

Awesome man, that's exactly what were looking for, trying to pull together the upper-east coast pump scene with a solid "local" tournament series people can rely on.

Kudos for quickshot for stepping up and doing this...there is not enough 5 man pump teams in jersey to pull 5 man in xball...although its a fun format to play....like the other guy said you would be better doing 3man pump events, as this way will draw more guys and more teams to play, even though we primarily play 5man in a 7man field

Thanks for the feedback zeropaint. That's what we are trying to gauge, as we seem to be hearing that there is heavy interest from people, and we want to get those voices out here and hear what people have to say.
Maybe we will be able to do 3-man and 5-man, or maybe we can do 3-man tournaments with a "throw together 6 man". For anyone interested on the day of the event we could just double up teams so those who are looking for a little more action can get as much out of the day as possible. These are all just brainstorming, but that's what the thread is for. Let us know if you've got anything else.

That's an interesting concept w/ 6 man.....also if it is on the speedball field, I hope its xball format, like race to format, should make for quick and fun games and an element of challenge when the games are back to back 2 min breaks in between......and please please no coaching....

The X-Ball format is something we would be interested in pursuing if there was interest, because it would let teams get more time on the field in a stretch and encourage more "non-traditional" pumpers to give it a try. The breaks we might give more time with, as the people playing might not be as "ready" to have a 90sec or 2 min break, but I agree that coaching takes away from the game.
The 6 man "double team" games would be a fun way to mix it up and get new teams in touch with one another.

Thanks again for the feedback guys.
We are hoping to have more interest in this format to see if it is something we can do as a monthly tournament. If you know of anyone else looking to throw in their two-cents, feel free to forward them the thread, as we would love to be able to get input from players across the Northeast who think they would play a tournament like this.

I like the idea of limited paint i think it adds something to the game. But it would be nice to try unlimited paint also. Maybe do a weekend of limited paint then an unlimited weekend.

Yea I'd prefer limited paint, that way if people want to autotrigger they'll just be out of paint way before the people who don't. (please let's not bash or argue about autotriggers and the people who use them, etc.)
I don't know how many rounds it should be limited to though. Maybe play a few games with 50 and if that's not fun increase it a bit.

jerzykid22- We are looking to posibly "testing" the interest in the format in late nov. or early Dec., but the airball field availability will have to be nailed down with Larry (owner) before we have a concrete schedule. We will always have the option of the woods, however the heavier interest thus far has been in the speedball field.
CrimsonDeath- I think we would be interested to try a limited paint scenario, however it will depend on the preferred method of play that is decided on. Currently, if we were to run an "open class" style of play, there would be no real paint limit. However, that's not to say we could not try one later on if the interest from a number of people is present.
I personally usually only have a sportshot hopper and maybe 1-2 50ct pods, which I feel is a fair amount of paint for a pump game.
Keep the ideas/comments/suggestions coming. We are getting good feedback thus far.

A pump tournament would be awesome in the area, a 5 man or 3 man speedball would be sick. I would deffinitly come.
