some dm5 ?'s

ok iv owned a vintage matrix and a dm4 but not long enough to answer my own questions about the dm5 seeing as they are basically the same markers,

but anyway, how much does the dm5 weigh, is getting a ul frame worth it and will it lower the weight any, also how efficent are they and what bolt will increase efficentcy im going to guess its the same as the vintage matrix the gold bolt

i forget how much the dm5's weigh, but the ul frame will take 2 oz. off the weight.

the evolve bolt kit will increase efficiency on the dm5, however they are pretty rare nowadays.

for dm5, i would say techT bolt is the best beside stock... it is also the easiest to find but really tricky to get to work... but once set, it shoots so smooth.

I had a pm8 with a techt bolt, and the techt bolt shot smoother without paint, but with paint the stock bolt shot smoother.

The techt bolt was so light, but the kickback from shooting paint was felt alot more than when the heavy stock bolt was in it, the stock bolts weight counteracts the back pressure from the ball more than the techt.

at least, this is my theory.

Stock.... unfortunately.. because like you I like to upgrade... but I guess when you pay 1000+ , brand new, at least you should expect minimum upgrading needs.

Either buy a top hat sleeve or do a top hat mod yourself with electrical tape or tubing. It is easy and cheap while giving pretty decent results.

so pretty much theres no reason to change the bolt, would a lighter bolt help at all, or will it be like one of the guys posted above and have more kick because of the reduced weight

Personly, I really hate how those make Dm's shoot. but to each his own I guess.

I agree and have all my DM/PM's tuned for feel. The OP asked about efficiency for which the top hat mod is by far and away the best bang for the buck.

Don't let those statements mislead you. Even with a top hat mod, your marker should have a nice smooth shot if it is tuned correctly. That being said, you have to chose what you want from your marker. A DM tuned for max efficiency (with a top hat mod for example) will not have the smoothest shot possible and likewise, a DM tuned for max smoothness will not be the most efficient setup. The trick is to find a spot in the middle that you are happy with if you don't want to set it up to one extreme or the other.

Ive never done an efficiency test, but I've never found tuning with high dwell low lpr to really hurt efficiency to where I notice it in a game.

I just really like the uber soft quite shot
