poor mans gun raffle???
I had an interesting idea the other day that I thought I'd throw at the pbnation community.
We all know that paintball isn't doing it's best in this economy and there is a lot of broke paintball players barely making enough to keep playing, let alone buy the newest guns.
My idea was to have a raffle started to where you could put your gun in a raffle so you can buy the gun you really want. The way this works is: you put up your outdated gun in the raffle, the raffle "tickets" are..say.. 10 bucks per person. The raffle ends when 100 tickets have accumulated. This gives said person $1000 to have what he/she really wants, and the lucky raffle winner gets a gat for $10!, thus stimulating the paintball community.
There's thousands of pbnation members so this should work fine.
There would have to be some structure to this, like having a mod draw the winner so there is no cheating. Overall though, I think this would be cool.
What do you think???
ideas?

No one would put in 10 bucks for the chance to get a paintball gun. Esoecially when people would probably buy less tickets then you could just sell the gun for. Maybe if it was a 1 of 1 gun that a lot of people were interested in then people would be buying tickets, but otherwise I don't see this having a real use.

I see the point, but it wouldn't be timed, it would be set to 100 "tickets".
I have a random $10 in paypal I would spend.
definitely didn't mean to put this in the Legalities secton, lol.

this is mainly for tourny players.
for example, I would put my dm7 up so I could get an NT/Luxe/Victory/ect.

so like you wouldnt know what gun you'd get? even though you could put a 400$ gun in and get an slg persay? thats stupid however if it was like a certain gun type, like dm7 raffle, for an nt? everyone gets a new dm7, and that one lucky person gets say 800$? or an nt?

Only the seller and 1 person gets paid while everyone else gets screwed. Everyone puts in a little to benefit the people at the top(the seller).
Also, how do you ensure that your buddy isn't the one who gets the marker every time?
Hell if you decide to go through with this idea. I'll put up a $300 marker for $1000 return. Some guy will get a $300 dollar gun for $10 and I get myself a new $1000 marker.
If you take 2 seconds to think about this you realize your chance of winning is 1%. With those odds, you might as well make a thread in BST trying to sell your $300 gun for $600. After that you pay someone to gold up it for you for $10. I think you have a better chance of making $300 profit with $10.

A better idea would be for gun whores to give their guns away to the needy.

okay, I'll explain it better.
There would be a thread called "poor mans raffle" or something. This thread would contain individual threads with raffle guns.It would be almost exactly like a F/S/T thread except 100 people chip in $10 for a chance to win said gun. ONLY 100, no more, no less; that gives a one in one hundred chance to win.
This gives the raffler $1000 to help towards paintball and 1 of the 100 a gun for $10(who would miss $10?). This person could put the gun right back up in his/her own raffle if they chose to do so.
I don't think this would screw anyone over. It's $10, why not?
Again, the winner should be picked by a MODERATOR so there would be no cheating.
this is just to keep money flowing through the paintball community guys, I meant for this to be a positive thing.

The problem is that everyone would put their gun up for raffle hoping to make money, which would then leave no one to actually buy the tickets.

The bigger problem is that we don't do these here at all. Contests and/or raffles would have to be sanctioned by the owners of the site, and that's not going to happen, especially not for used gear.
The other problem is that this has nothing to do with paintball legalities.
