I have been with the same bank since i opened my first savings account around age 8, and have had a checking account with them as well for 4 years. I have always been a satisfied customer and thought i would never take my business somewhere else. However, yesterday my bank did something that made me so mad i am going to close my account as soon as all of my pending transactions clear.

What i am worried about, is that when i go to another bank i might not be able to open a checking account when they run a credit check. I don't have any credit what so ever. Will they only want to let me open a savings account at first or will they be willing to give me both right off the bat?

checking doesnt have anything with credit. you wont be borrowing against the checking so dont worry about it

I am aware of that. However, some banks say "subject to credit approval" even on their checking/savings accounts application pages. Maybe they just put that on everything, i don't know.

Why not apply for a checking account and then once accepted, or denied, make your choice to stick with your bank or go with the new guys?

Yea do this

go make your new one first

then close that one.



You shouldn't have any issues opening a checking account though ; banks want your money
