Forest Brown (creator of Challenge Park Xtreme) passed away
Forest Brown passed away on Thursday night in his sleep while away visiting family in Denver.
Forest created Challenge Park and later Challenge Park Xtreme (better known now as CPX). CPX was the culmination of his vision of how a paintball field could be a true full size fantasy land.
He was the captain of Farside and owned several paintball/hobby stores in the Chicago-Land area under the Challenge Games name.
He was a great friend and an incredible influence on paintball world wide. He will be missed.
There will be a memorial service, possibly both in Illinois and Kentucky. I'll add details as they become available.
Edit: There will be a gathering for family and friends in Joliet, IL on Saturday October 2nd.
Change of venue for Forest Brown's memorial this Saturday. It will be at Joliet Memorial Stadium from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM where he will receive military honors. Then we will move to Heroes and Legends after 5:00 PM.

It is truly a sad time for the Family.
Forest was a great person, a great business man, a great paintball icon. I feel lucky to have played for him, and worked with him on some of his projects.
He was truly a good person, he had different views than most and that added to the mystique that he created.
My heart is heavy, you will be missed Brownie... But never Forgotten

Very sad to hear. I visited CPX with a few of my boys for the first time last fall coming out from NY. Unbelievable place. Loved it so much that its an annual trip for us now.
He had to have one hell of a vision to have created that spot. My condolences go out to his family, friends and the CPX staff

Forest has been around since I had started playing and has been a leader in fields and paintball teams in general. He was one of the nicest guys I have met in my career and could always count on him to have a smile on for sure. Great person and my thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends. He will be missed....

That’s a shame.
CPX is easily one of the best fields I have ever been to. It should definitely be on everyone’s "bucket" list.

Forest Brown passed away...
Rest in Peace, my dear friend...
A true visionary in Paintball, Forest walked the walk. He dreamed of a "Disneyland of Paintball" and made the dream come true at Challenge Park, and later, CPX Sports. He literally paved the way for theatrical mega-parks like Hollywood Sports Park.
Forest and I traveled to EIGHTEEN cities in one year to conduct our Dealer Seminar Series together, under the PMI banner. We made a distinct difference, and lit many fires of desire and possibility thinking among literally hundreds of business operators.
- Forest is the only guy I know who has REALLY flown real Helicopters UPSIDE DOWN (momentarily, but repeatedly) in Viet Nam. (Ask me someday)
- Forest designed the majority of the Starship Enterprise. Really.
- This incredible man affected so many with the ability to believe in their visions, you almost have to wonder what Paintball would be like if he had never lived.
Rest easy, old friend. We miss you already...
