About once a month I pull the pump handle off and polish the guide rod and pump rod with some Mothers metal polish - keeps the gunk down and the smoothness up. I also pull the hammer and polish it when I think its due. Cant tell much with the hammer, but definitely can with the rods!!

For awhile there, every two weeks I would polish the rods, hammer, valve and sand the roughness out of the bolt. I would also rebuild the reg once a month and check all my pressures.
