Thank You Very Much for 5 Great Years!
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this post. I felt that with the many friends that I have made from my many years working with the GPL, that I needed to share the news with the players personally.
I have informed the owners of the GPL/MAPL that I am unable at this time to continue acting as the Ultimate Judge for the tournament series. Refereeing is a particular passion of mine. I love what I do and I love meeting players and teams from across the east coast, where I have created some lasting friendships.
I have had the pleasure of serving as the GPL Ultimate Judge for the last five years. I took over as Ultimate Judge mid season when the league was at Del Hobbies, and have continued through two full seasons and the first two events at OACC. Rick has been my co-ultimate for 3 1/2 years.
At this time due to my ailing health related to my prior and now re-occuring knee issues, I don't feel that I can fully do my duties. This in conjunction with an increasing feeling of obligation to both time for my paintball business, Ballers Inc. and my team Misfit Toys.
Additionally, Rick Guyer, my co-Ultimate will not be returning. Rick and his family have outside obligations with Pocono Whitewater (part of the Skirmish USA family) as well as Rick's commitment to the Misfit Toys as a Coach.
It saddens us both greatly at this time. We wish all the teams the best of luck and hope that you have a great rest of the season. I know the GPL/MAPL organization will have quality referees to guide and run the events in the future. I will miss you greatly. With any luck you will catch me at future events with my team, as I cheer them on from the sidelines. Best of Luck to you all.
Sincerely, Eric "BIG E" Holland
