Update 4/8/11
After a very successful inaugural season we are looking forward to competing in Class AA at NCPA Collegiate National Championships 4/15/11-4/17/11 out at Central Florida Paintball in Lakeland, FL. There will be over 80 teams from all parts of the U.S competing. After nationals we are going to take a small break during the summer. The application process of becoming a club has been submitted and we are waiting approval from the University. Summer plans will include playing in some of the CFP Series and maybe playing a PSP event. Our goals for the fall are playing every NCPA event, playing in PSP's World Cup and continuing the growth of the club. If you are interested in becoming a member, regardless of skill level and past experience, please contact Andrew Cox (President), Brian St. Amour or myself either here on PBNation or in the facebook group posted above. We look forward to a successful nationals and promising summer/fall terms.

Thanks for the support guys, definitely will keep in contact with the other teams as things get going. Will get in contact with everyone that has responded so far and keep this thread updated with all progress.

Yes please any valuable information that you could send our way would help a lot. I think one of the biggest problems we will face will be the faculty support. How did you guys manage to get some serious support?

Does anyone have any info on the fields? I've never played in orlando, so any info would be appreciated.

I know there's a field right by school (addiction?) But I think PBWorld has the best competition?

37 clubs including: Ice Hockey (in FL?!) Womens Bowling... Rock Climbing and Ultimate Frisbee and we cant get a PB team started?

Goodluck, Every year UCF attempts to start a team but it never seems to get off the ground or it starts then suddenly disappears. Hope you guys get it together this year
Yes their is teams at Addiction to scrim against, usually on Sundays, Its probably 2 miles or so from UCF

Thanks for keeping the thread towards the top, good to see a couple more guys interested. I know this has been tried before and it doesn't ever seem to work, but I can promise you guys I will do everything in my power to get this off the ground for the long run.

I'll be coming up Thursday night, moving in Friday. Anyone who hasn't yet, PM me and I'll get you my phone number so we can stay in contact. I'm living in the towers, so if anyone ever wants to stop by or give me a call we can talk about the plans to get things set up. I'm hoping to get together in the first or second week of school so we can get an idea of who is dedicated and go from there.

Also, if you can please PM me your schedules so I can plan meetings for the most amount of people (hopefully all) to attend. I don't need to know what classes you are taking, just times you are available would be great.

there is always an attempt at this but it never seems to go through. If you could make an ucf/valencia venture that would be 100% more likely to succeed. but im not sure in the ncpa rules about a mixed college team. either way, just getting SOMETHING to work would be sick.

I would highly recommend having a tryout if youre serious and play a couple tournaments prior to competing in the NCPA. I have seen and reffed the NCPA and unless we're going for 5-man, xball is no joke.

Yes very true I am sure we will go over all of that at the first meeting. The xball is class A correct and then AA is race to 2? We have to qualify for A unless we can figure out how to get the 3800 dollar team entry fee

As far as I understand it, you have to play class AA to earn a spot in class A. Only those schools earning a bid from the NCPA are allowed to participate in class A (except at nationals I think). That means for at least this first season we will have to play class AA to make our name before moving up. Class A is xball while class AA is 5 man race to 2.

If we get enough interest that tryouts are needed, then we will have them. However especially since we are new, everyone is welcome at this point. We need 12 people to become an official club at UCF and right now we aren't there yet from the people who have contacted me. However all we need is 5 guys to start playing events, even if aren't official with the school yet.

I definitely think competing in other tournaments will be beneficial and as long as we have the players, playing in tournaments like CFPS and hopefully even Cup before jumping into the NCPA season is definitely part of the plan.

All we can really do is talk right now though. Until we are all on campus and we get together and see who is serious and how many people we have, there aren't many concrete plans we can make.
