The staff at the MAPL would like to thank all the players, refs and support staff for an outstanding mid-summer tournament under severely trying conditions. With temperatures hovering around 97 thousand degrees and humidity just slightly under the thickness of beef stew, weather conditions were difficult at best and frankly, dangerous at worst. Even though we had fans in the pits, chrono areas, and pavilion, 6 water stations, shade for spectators and players, a four foot mister fan and a separate cooling tent there were still 6 players that needed to be seen by our medical staff over the weekend. It's a testimony to preparation on the players' part and, hopefully, diligence on our part.
Even under these severe conditions (oh, and we had a lightning storm, torrential downpour and tornado warnings on Sunday. Very excellent...), there were very few, if any, arguments or bickering. The players hustled to keep the schedule, the refs judged with energy and skill and the support staff worked with diligence. All in all, it would be difficult to imagine a better result under such conditions. We are grateful, and proud of our customers and staff.
