Is the day I'm shipping to Fort Knox for BCT. I haven't seen any Fort Knox threads here lately so decided I would ask what it's like. Some of the SGT's I've talked to just said be ready for it to be hot as hell every day. I'm from Maine, so I'm used to moderate summers.

Thanks for any input guys.

Yes it will be very hot. Are you there for OSUT or just BCT? I was there for 16 weeks starting in mid july. It was hot as hell for a month or 2. Left in November and it was starting to get pretty damn cold. Ive heard later in winter it gets much worse.

I love Ft. Knox. I had a fun time there. But that was when I was station there in 1/16 Cav. If you go in as a 19k,I know most of the drills threre. But summers are hot, winters are cold, they had some bad storms that killed the power for a few days.

I'm surprised 1ID hasn't burned that place to the ground yet.

It's a good time to go to Fort Knox in my opinion. I was there in February 2008 for 19D OSUT. It was so cold at Fort Knox I hated the winter. Being from New Jersey I am used to the cold winters, but everything seemed worse then! I had to qualify with my M16 in a pool of ice and freezing water! I was supposed to graduate in June of 2008 but after getting injured in my 7th/8th week, I got pulled from training and had to do two and a half months of rehabilitation to get a return to duty status. Because of that, I graduated in September 2008. It was really hot at the end of my training. "Heat Category 5" almost everyday, but I loved it.

I honestly loved every minute of being at Fort Knox for training. Fort Knox was not that bad, and I always loved when we went out in the field and did our FTX missions.

What's your MOS? If you're a 19D/19K that's cool. Anything else.. well, :-P

Thats where i went to basic, E 1/46. Was there from August to October, caught the end of summer when it was hot, and a little bit of the fall when it started getting cold. NIC at night was fun and have fun on the walk back from the 6day ftx- i think its heartbreak, you walk up to it and it just looks like a wall you have to walk up. youll be fine tho- basic wasnt all that bad.

I had a fun time in basic, Now that I look at it Basic was easy as hell, All you have to do, is make your bed, do pt, be in the right uniform, and have pen and paper, and formation on time. But some people would even **** that up.
