Sorry didn't know if this thread was first as I started one talking about community also. Anyhow, I liked the episode as well. Community is a funny show and that is saying a lot nowadays. Mainstream TV has gotten just horrid so anytime someone has an original idea with some good characters I'm there for it.
While I understand what you are saying about masks, you have to look at it from a TV exec and actors point of view. People watch the show (especially that show) for the characters...if you can’t see them because of a mask people get bored and turn it off. A large portion of acting (and comedy) is facial motions (95% for Jim Carrey). Adding in the sounds of real guns was overdoing it a bit but again, look what they were trying to go for. It was a mix of Die Hard I and a John Woo film.
It's obvious that those were faked shots anyhow, either that or they turned down the PSI to almost nothing. I think what they were going for was less Paintball and more the old Gotcha game but they had to use what was out there. When we played assassin in college we used Squirt guns but they imagery of paint splatters all over the campus as the main character wakes up to find a Omega Man sort of world was classic, just classic.
Again, I loved it and Chang's TM-15 was awesome!
Oh and by the way....for Priority Registration...I'd cap all your a&@'s!
