Keep a quick detailer in your car. It's a good idea. I do it. Bird crap will destroy your clearcoat if it bakes in. I always wipe that stuff off as soon as I get a chance.

I'm no expert, but I wash my truck at least once a week. But I live in the country and it gets dusty super fast.

for my car pete, I would wash it well every 2 weeks, and every month or 2 I would wax it, and every couple of months I would clay and wax.
Kept the car in better shape than most. I dont have the patience or know how to detail like matt, but after every wash, the car always looked stunning.
Also, good wax is important, but in between I loved the results turtle wax ice gave me. Easy to use, and it provided a good, clean, deep, wet look to my paint.
thats after one of the last times I waxed her.
and here she is when I first got her, after the first time I clayed and waxed

That is a beautiful car Pete, the way you set your goal to get it was definitely a good idea. I'm sure what you paid for it was a steal, but im not gonna ask. Somethings, like price, are better left for people to wonder and the owner to sit at home and get goose bumps every time they think about it. Again great purchase.
