Anyone Getting Out Soon?

I've got 9 months to go.

Have questions? Need help finding a job? ANYTHING?

Post all that jazz in here. Our biggest tool is our "brotherhood".

Fact number 1: No one is looking for a new employee a year out.

Heck, you will be hard pressed to find someone looking for anything past 3 months. That in itself is on the rare side. Most employers don't want to talk to you unless you are 30 to 60 days from the time you can start working. They don't operate like we do, with projected gains and losses for manning.

Fact number 2: Head Hunters are a double edged sword.

Yes, a head hunter can help you find a job. They are good at what they do (most of the time), they have to be: they are paid by commission. Their commission is based on what your salary will be for the 1st year of employment. When I say that, I mean you will get significantly less than you COULD get from an employer BECAUSE all the extra money is paying a "finder's fee."

I am not saying don't use a head hunter. I am saying be weary. ALWAYS weigh all your options and benefits.

Fact 3: You are a VETERAN

Veteran status gives you a leg up on the average Joe. It can give you front of the line status at a civilian company, or it can even give you "preferred hiring status" through a government agency. With your experience in the military many employers will wave education prereqs.
