Fairbanks is the place to be for Alaska summer time, but the paintball action is less than stellar.

That sux...maybe we can do in Fairbanks what we have set up in Safford: one guy owns a compressor and bulk tanks, I sell paint from APX, and the city actually gave the paintballers some land to use as a field out in its recreational area.

Any shot at the city letting us use some unused land? Has anyone tried it yet? Heck, I've spent probably a month's time in man hours working on the field here and wouldn't mind doing it there, even if it was seasonal, as long as I still got to play. That is, assuming that it would be more than my wife and I doing ALL the work as it pretty much ended up being here. I've had the odd random friend help out maybe 3 times in...6 years. So yeah... if there's a will, there's a way.

I'm a year or two from getting a compressor (and even further from an airball setup) because I'm either getting laid off or getting pushed into quitting my current job here in a week and have to start life over and put my wife through school, but if others have the money right away, I certainly have the time.

I've been apart of paintball here for the last 10 years, built/rebuilt fields, held/put together/reffed tournaments both in AZ and New Mexico.

I'll post on here when I finally get up there (gotta drive from AZ. Yippee) and if anyone wants to do it, I'll help where I can. Otherwise, I guess I'll take up hiking or soemthing...lol.

The only hold up is finding a good spot of land. I don't have $15k to drop on a chuck of land or the additional costs to prep it. I don't know about the city supplying land or where to even start with that.

I'll try to track down my old high school teacher's email addy and see if he was around back when they first set everythingup in Safford. I know he's old school and he might've been around when they got everything cleared by the city, so maybe he can point me in the right direction.

theres really only two fields for speedball that i know of, but theres alot of land for woodsball, the two fields are wasilla splatterhouse and 187 paintball if i remember right, there both located near anchorage. There aren't any speedball fields that I know of near fairbanks.

I was interested in starting a field near fairbanks, but the interest just doesn't seem to be there

there is a lot of people looking to start one, it's just the overhead is usually a problem for people, i mean if you had about 10 people go in on it, that weren't really looking for a return on investment, I don't think that there would be a problem starting one up. Just my opinion.
