Any EOD guys?

I just enlisted into the Army about 2 months ago. I choose 89D (EOD) for my MOS.

So how hard is AIT? Its 40 weeks. Anyone been threw it who can give me some info?

Just watch The Hurt Locker. That movie was pretty much head-on as far as realism and really showing what the Iraq war is like. Thats why it won all those Oscars. Great movie.

Its was indeed a great movie. But I do think some of it was over dramatic.

How hard is it? Pretty hard. It's easy to get worn down. 14 hour days for at least 9 months. Just don't be a ****head and get in trouble. Any specific questions? Oh, don't put EOD in your signature until you graduate. Lots of people consider it bad luck to even touch a crab before they graduate.

it captured the mentality of most EOD guys pretty well. every one i've ever met is either dumb as a rock or bat**** insane, half of them are missing fingers or covered in graft scars from burns.

I'm guessing you've only met Army techs?

That sounded bad, but the way they place people into team leader slots is irresponsible and reckless. It's not their fault, but some of them go on their first EOD deployment as a team chief which is ****ed. (Cross-trainees)
