Hi all. I just bought a used Geo with G-R2 and GST kit.

I'm just wondering what I should be doing maintenance- and tuning-wise when I receive it?

I assume re-lubing the reg is in order, and obviously the bolt assembly, and I have also seen the dwell-tuning procedure here in the stickies.

Anything else I should be doing to it before play? For instance, do you all recommend screwing in the VVC all the way? Is there any reason not to?

The stock/recommended setting for the dwell with the GST can is 14 ms, so that would be a good place to start. Everything maintenance wise on the Geo is very simple. There are actually a couple of youtube videos of Mr. Jack Wood himself going through the process on how to maintain your Geo.

As for the reg just unscrew the two halves, pull out the piston and lube the o-ring. There are a couple of o-rings on the velocity adjustment screw also if you wanted to do those.

The basic idea with the VVC is if you screw in all the way in you get better efficiency, all the way out for a smoother shot. Don't expect a world's of difference between the two though.

Yep - I can't tell a whole lot of difference between the smoothness between having the VVC screw all the way in and all the way out, so I just screw it all the way in. If smoothness is the be all and end all for you though, you may want what little difference in smoothness there is, in which case screw it all the way out.

Ok i got a question im using a 68/4500 by the way. so i have the screw all the way out bc i lie my shot smooth but the efficency isnt the greatest. say i turn it all the way in how much differnce in efficency will it be like a pod? less then or more?

Maybe... maybe..... a pod, if you've done the dwell tuning guide also. If your getting roughly 6 to 7 pods and a hopper off a 68/4500 then your in the right area.
