Joy Division To Shoot Nano 50 Cal For Millenium Series
".50 caliber hits Joy Division
When you picture Joy Division in your mind's eye you see them in their cheetah outfits rolling the trigger on an Angel, as it has been for years. A big change is coming this season, so huge in fact you might want to sit down before reading this.
Joy will be shooting NANO50 cal markers in the European events and if rumor serves us right, the team will resume shooting their Joy Division Angels when they play paintball worldwide. It is interesting to note that the Millennium Series was one of the first “major” paintball leagues to adopt and allow for .50cal paintball play...

Very Interesting,........

anyone have a list of the adapted rules to allow 50cal? obviously there has to be a benefit of using it in order for a team to switch. Chrono higher to allow for a longer ball flight with the same imparted energy perhaps?
In theoretical perfect conditions, an object fired from a gun at the same velocity and angle will travel the same distance regardless of size or weight.
When you factor in wind, drag, ball spin, and other variations, thats when you will get results that may give a statistical advantage to either ball size.
We will all have a chance to see how 50cal does in a real tournament situation soon I suppose.

Well, people are still waiting for the Mills to release a current set of rules for .68cal play, let alone 50 And whilst the series has allowed 50 there doesn't seem to have been any actual testing etc, they just gave in to, er, demand
As for 'benefits', just maaaayyyybeee they come from, I dunno, paint deals or financial support, instead of picking 50 over 68 because it performs so well.
But this is the test everyone has been waiting for; get a good team using 50 against 68 shooting teams and see how it works out, good luck to Joy for taking that big step and shrinking their balls (in Europe, anyway, they get bigger again when they travel to the US).

All the .50 cal haters should actually LIKE this news. It provides a chance to prove them right. They should only really dislike this news if they believe it can potentially prove them wrong..,

but why Joy?
they've been as close to an APS/WGP factory team as we'll see for about 5 years
EDIT:
what's your source on this?
EDIT #2:

says G.I. Milsim on the front
no APS or Angel mentioned anywhere, but they still use A-Balls so i guess Joy is still somewhat associated with APS
EDIT #3:
off of www.propaintball.com

As for advantages... I would be willing to bet that using .50 cal, with the additional carrying capacity and efficiency, Joy will be putting twice as much paint downfield in the longer matches.

Very Cool. A test was needed to prove if it was able to compete. While people may mock them for being paid to do so, the reality is advertisement costs money. And with such a controversial topic, I cannot see a better way to spend the advertising budget or marking plan.
to Joy and for 50 cal.
Only time will tell.
