In need of help.

Hey guys and girls,

I drive a 2001 Dodge Neon. Yesterday what happened is I was driving along a back road when I approached a stop sign so I start to shift down. Once I got to the stop sign I was in Neutral. I slowed down a bit for the stop sign and when I went to put it back into 1st gear I pushed in the clutch but there was no tension so I could not get it into 1st gear. When I tried to start going again it would not go into any gear 1st, 2ed, 3rd, 4th, 5th or Reverse. Any one ever come across this issue before? So far I think it could be either my clutch is gone or the tranny rods.

All the help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ramzi

I took it into one of my buddies shops and he told me it is the Clutch Slave Cylinder... he says its gonna be around 4-700 to fix because the slave is internal on a neon tranny so they need to pull it... ahhh this sucks!

Well, do it yourself, and while you have the tranny off, throw on a new clutch.

You aren't taking the trans apart, you are separating the engine and trans. This is why concentric slaves suck. As already stated, now is the perfect time to replace the clutch assembly and resurface the flywheel.

Sell it and get a less ****ty car. Anything that has any association with the Chrysler Corporation is complete ****. Dodge, Plymouth, DSM, all of them. Garbage. Not even worth fixing.

You could do it in your driveway for $200-300 tops. You could easily swap the clutch in a weekend. Also maybe I'm getting bad info, but your friend is a *******, the neon runs an external slave.

i'll call up the dodge dealership and see what they say or speak with a couple other machanics see what they say... but your telling me the clutch is external from the Tranny? that does make sence to me aswell... I would love to just do all the work in my drive way but I do not have the tools or the room to store the tools if I were to purchace them.

No, the slave cylinder is external, the clutch is inside the bellhousing of the transmission, just like any clutch.

Does it go into gear with the engine off?
