Considering a used GEO. What to look for...
So my experience with the Geo goes as far back as last weekend shooting about 15 balls through my friends Hurricanes Geo and now really wanting one. I found a used one locally, but don't want to get a dud. What should I look for/ ask about? Are there different generations? What's the difference? What ups do I need to make it shoot like the Canes geo? Thanks for your help!

You should be able to find one with GR-2 and GST and the shaft barrel backs in decent condition for around $700. Search the B/S/T till you find the right deal for you. GR-2 and GST are a must have.

Make sure it has the GR-2 kit.
Ask if it has the Geo Soft Touch kit (GST), you will want to get this if they are not including in sale. It's the only 'real' upgrade to the Geo. You could get a custom trigger, which is all personal preference. It should shoot just like your friends Geo as long as you get the GST, assuming he has the GST also.
Only one generation atm, the Geo+ (a geo with GR-2 and GST stock and more anno colors) and the Geo2 are due out soon.
This will be a buy you will not regret

Reason: forgot about geo+

How can I make sure? What can I ask him to look for? He is not sure if it has it or not but he said its stock. The gun was won at World Cup last year.
Thanks for the help guys.

gr-2 you can tell by the propshaft, there are 2 lines/grooves that are on the tip of the propshaft that the older one doesnt have, and that its slightly shorter, the gs-t you can tell by the bolt can and/or if it has a voluminizer in it, the bolt can will have a number on it, i think its 1.7 or something, and the bolt will have a venturi face, not just a openface like the curebolt(stock bolt)

From the sounds of it, he's not very tech savvy. Is there some simple way to identify? Where could I find step by step instructions on how to do this (so I can send to him)?

The ST kit does not come with a volumizer - what it has if anything is a "de-volumizer". There are inserts that fit around the Propshaft to fill space within the firing chamber. With less air to propel the ball, but at the same pressure, velocity is reduced. These are only fitted when using the marker with Reballs, or any other time that you may want to make a large reduction in velocity.

Watch out for scammers, I was scammed out of a pink lady geo recently. Instead of getting the geo the guy sent me a $2 audio cable from tiger direct and paypal won't get the money back for me.

See the 2 lines milled in at the base of the tip? That makes it a GR-2
