Dead battery? When is the last time you lubed the regs?
Also, pull your bolt out and manually cycle it. A lot of friction?

just bought a $9 battery thats supposed to last like 10000 hours or something redic.

lubed the lpr the other day and reset it 5 turns out

and the bolt seems to have just the right amount of friction.

i just went from an orange bolt to a stock bolt. if that would do anything, but id say the bolt is good.

I had this happen to my dm3. Its reg settings and dwell. If it shoots fine and then just falls off as you start roping it, the air cannot keep up with the gun. Try 2 things:

1. Turn the hpr an 1/4 turn up. That alone probably wont fix it, youll have to adjust your lpr. Instead of just starting at stock, reset it, so turn it all the way in and then back it out until it starts shooting like it normally would and then go maybe 1 to 1 1/2 turns past that and see if it will rope. If you happen to have a chrono handy use that so your not in the dark on your velocity and you can set that too.

2. Try upping the dwell from stock (18) to 20 or 21.

Its all about trial and error. Best of luck to you.

What about your asa pin? It could be too short to open up your tank reg fully or too long causing inconsistency. Although, that's a stretch.

Whenever you have a consistent fluctuation like this (shoot-down or shoot-up), it's never the dwell. It's either the solenoid isn't being powered consistently (such as a bad board or battery), or your marker is starving for air.

So...try:
  • *another* new battery
  • Clean / relube your HPR
  • Clean / relube your LPR
  • Try a new tank
  • Try a new ASA

Download the dm7 owners manual from the dye website, that pretty much tells you how to change the dwell settings if you dont have one. I would try start out at dwell setting 20....see if that does it, but to be honest it doesnt sound like a dwell problem. That to me sounds like a solenoid problem due to the fact that the solenoids job is to regulate the amount of air that flows through the gun....worst case senerio, i would call dye, get a claim number and send it to them for maintenence....Good luck

Just some more thoughts to help. :)

I just thought that as I'm not an expert, I'll show you what I use for my DM7 when I have problems.

Granted these tips are for the Pm series of guns. I imagine someone is going to be a jerk here and say I don't know blah blah blah, but the operation is similar and this might give you some more ideas.
So please don't bash me for just trying to help.

"--I have erratic velocity or shoot down problems--
Piston (10) or shim stack (9) may be binding due to excessive dirt or lack of lubricant.
Seat (5) may be dirty or damaged. Clean and grease regulator. Inspect and replace damaged parts as needed.
Make sure shim stack (9) is stacked properly."

"--I am getting inconsistent velocity over the chrono--
In-line regulator not giving consistent pressure: refer to the Hyper2™ section below, or if using an after-market regulator, refer to its manufacturer.
Low battery: change the battery.
Bad seals in the bolt: take out the bolt, clean it, lube it with Dye Slick Lube™. Replace any orings that seem damaged, swollen or in otherwise bad shape. Most likely the o-ring at fault is the #017 UR70 (5) front wall o-ring. Also check that the #014 BN70 (1) o-ring on the bolt tip is in place.
LPR pressure set incorrectly or LPR pressure fluctuating: if pressure is too low, the bolt will not cycle correctly. Try turning the LPR pressure a bit higher. If the pressure seems inconsistent, you can have an authorized Matrix center check the LPR pressure. List of tech centers can be found at www.protopaintball.com.
Dwell set too low: if you set the dwell too low, the dump chamber will not empty completely and will cause erratic velocities. Refer to board settings on page 6 for information on setting the dwell."
