warning?

seriously guys.....do you even look at a thread before handing out a warning because a 2year old has his feelings hurt?

i know a warning isnt a huge deal but i am a supporting member and a respectable buyer/seller.

heres my point: a seller has a marker for $1000 OBO and then has 2 consecutive posts saying 'NO OFFERS????" and then i throw an offer of $850 at him.
IMO the proper thing to do would be to reply with: "no thanks, too low"

INSTEAD he puts: GTFO go buy a SL8R

that isn't rude?

that doesnt deserve a warning???

i admit my reply wasnt very nice, but it was pretty clever.

so i guess i am just trying to put it out there that the kids on here dont need to be such little babies when it comes to buying & selling.

if someone has FIRM i am old enough to not even bother with an offer.

if it say "no offers & obo" i think thats an open invitation for some offers!

an offer of $850 for $1000 item, whether it be a paintball marker or a can of farts seems like a good place to start from my point of view.

once again, if the seller doesnt think so, does that give him/her the rite to tell me to to G(et) T(o) F(***) O(ut)???????

please let me know if you agree with the above or not.

Breaking the forum rules when someone else does it has never been acceptable. in the future, just report and ignore a user who is out of line and let a mod handle it. Do not troll, insult or break any of the forums as it can only escalate the situation.

Your warning was for bypassing the word filter by spelling words with characters in place of letters. This shows that you are fully aware of how the filter works and chose to spell the words in a manner in which they would be displayed, much like you have done in your original post in this thread. Please edit that post to remove the filter violations as well.

As Whitey said, report any posts you feel are breaking the rules, and they will be dealt with accordingly.

AHA! finally someone explains it to me in english.

i thought bypassing a swear filter was somehow actually being able to spell the swear properly.

so i can say: GTFO or GFY or STFU or any such 'abbreviations' but if i actually try & spell the word using characters (i dont actually see a major difference) then that is an infraction here.

thanks....

gonna edit my post here

As long as you spell words correctly, and don't use them to insult other members, they're pretty much fine to use.

When you spell the word correctly, such as ****, the filter sees it and edits it out, when you replace letters with characters, the filter doesn't recognize it, so it can't do it's job.

Keep in mind you cannot see other peoples infractions.

As for the acronyms, you can use them as long as you don't use them to insult someone. Here's the entry on swearing from the FAQ

Specifically:

Quote:
Acronyms like "lmao" are allowed. However, if you use an acronym in such a way as to troll or insult other members, just like any correctly spelled swear word used to troll of insult, you could earn an infraction or ban. For instance, telling a user to "gtfo" could earn easily an infraction.

Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. When done in a moderated internet community, this can result in banning.
