Does GPS measure X or Y?

x but if you drive like y, then it will take you the y direction.
But you can change it to drive like y instead of x. For example, no tolls or no freeway. Depends on your settings.

im going to say no, even marine gps's that operate in straight line navigation only always work with the curvature of the earth rather then the actual distance between two points if you were to measure them looking form space. So a 3 mile a to b is really 3.2 or some bull **** to the gps because the earf is round

it reads the relative position of multiple satellites, finds an angle to each, and doing some fancy math (read: basic trig) calculates the distance from point a to point b, and/or where you are. i'd have to imagine there's some correction built in to the system for the curvature of the earth, too.

I don't have much idea related to the GPS measurement system so i am not sure about anything regarding that... or i think it should be vector ..

Its called projection.
Are you still using GloNass ? Because geopositioning works in 3 dimensions.
Just be sure to initialize with 4 satellites and stay connected to at least 3.
