The rastafari movement

Does anyone here catagorize them selves as a rasta? I wouldn't say I am part of the rastafari movement, but I support a lot of the ideas that they came up with.

It would be more conducive to discussion if you would outline which ideas you support and why you feel that they are relevant to your life. Moreover, it might help to discuss why, if you support a lot of the ideas, you do not identify with the group as a whole.

Yes/no questions tend to get yes/no answers.

If you want to see true rastas, not the American variety, you should visit Shashamane. That's where the rasta settlement was established for ex-slaves to return to Zion. Ethiopia is a cool place. You'll see stuff there that you will never see anywhere else. Pot is illegal in Ethiopia so don't get caught. The jails there aren't as nice as they are here. The Rastas are grandfathered into being allowed to use it.
Chat is the drug of choice in Ethiopia because it's cheap, legal and takes hunger pangs away. Pot is a little too expensive for most of the population... and it makes you more hungry. Jut to put things in perspective, I've see kids on the streets there begging for water. Very sad.
