Today was not a bright spot in the plex's history. WAAAAAYYYYY to many people for the amount of refs they had. I played 2 games in about 2 hours. Pretty disappointing just for the fact its been OUTSTANDING every other time.
There were teams using the open play for practice that were just dicks as well which isn't the fields fault but it was just kind of a let down.

I was there today and I know what you are talking about. To their defense all the 7 man teams practicing, were suppose to call before hand but they said a lot of them just showed up unexpectedly and they had to accommodate to that.

I think in the future it would be best to split up the 7 man and the pump teams. Let them pump it out Saturday night and let the 7s run in the morning. Or the other way around.
I thought everything else was great though. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I was not there today, but I think all the teams you are talking about were signed up to be there. Check this thread for the teams coming each weekend and the format going to be played.

I think you just picked a really busy day, that the Plex had already scheduled the number of teams coming, to just show up and play. I understand your frustration, but at the same time I think the staff of the Plex tries to accomodate everyone and all these teams had scheduled today to be there and were also traveling a long distance to play. I think the Plex tries to post the teams coming on those busy days so everyone knows what to expect.

Yeah, I understand that. They only had one field running as well that I could see. It was just a cluster. They had 3 different groups running (beginner, advanced and pump). Then you had some people in the advanced group totally line jumping and going right back in. I just left before I got frustrated, just sucked that drove an hour to play 2 games.

you must be referring to later in the day/afternoon then?
all morning, everything ran PERFECT. all the scheduled teams got fair amount of games and chances to play everyone else. travis and mike really kept the games rotating quickly with little down time, excellent job handling the large practice today. only complaint is to have more refs out there!
plex, as always, is the best in the MW

What difference does it make? There were just a lot of teams there. It seemed to me that Travis was doing a good job of keeping things moving. Besides, the pump guys were able to get in 2 games quicker than most of the non pumpers could do one. To be completely honest, those pump teams have been scheduled to come out and play for about 2 months. Not like it was a surprise they were there.

Just splitting things up would make it into smaller groups and things would run faster.
It's easier to manage 6 teams Saturday and 6 on Sunday than it is to fit in 12 on Sunday. At least I'd think so.

things usually run alot better during xball weekends. It seemed like Travis tried to get games running as fast as he could, but it was just the waiting on teams to get on/off the field and get ready to play that took so long

This Weekend Info
Hours for this Weekend (like always be sure to check our website calendar for other info):
Thursday: 6pm to 9pm. $20 entry gets you a gun and paint for recreational play games. Everyone uses a Tippmann 98 rental gun and we supply the paint (you can not use your gun on this night of play). All proceeds go to team EDGE to help fund their 2010 season.
Friday: 4pm to 9pm. One Open play field 175' x 110'. Normal Recreational play.
Saturday: 10am to 6pm (last game at 5:45pm). One Open play field 175' x 110'. Normal Recreational play.
Saturday: 6pm to 9pm. Speedball (5man, Xball field will be setup with the Phoenix layout). Chicago Aftershock and Indianapolis Mutiny will be playing in addition to any other team that shows up and/or "free agents". Your best bet to get time on the field is to come with 5 players or arrange to meet others at the field so you can play as a team.
Saturday 9pm to 11pm. Chicago Aftershock vs. Indianapolis Mutiny. Spectator only. Come watch 2 pro teams practice. This is a private session for the 2 pro teams.
Sunday 8:30am to noon. 3man and 5man tournament. NO open play during this time.
Info at this thread: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3312307
Sunday 1PM - 6PM. One 100' x 110' Open Play field. Normal recreational play.
Sunday 1PM - 6PM. One Xball Field for speedball practice. You must have a team of 5 to play so bring 5 people or plan on meeting others at the field to play with you. If you don't have 5 people you can play on the other field. Chciago Aftershock and Mutiny will be playing in addition to many other teams.
See this link for info if you plan on playing during the xball practice session: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3299165
Thank you
Mike

First, I'd like to thank Mike and the Paintball Plex crew for an awesome Sunday of paintball. to a great field and staff. You guys and Mutiny with Tom have always made us feel more than welcome. It really makes the 12hr round trip drive from St. Louis worth it.
I thought the games went great all day. Kept the pace moving and even let us pumpers run back to back. I commented to a teammate it was weird playing paintball and there didn't seem to be drama I only recall 1 thing later in the day after the switch to X-ball, but it was more of a "if you get the drop on me, shoot my pack, not my effing head" type deal.
To the people that play @ the Plex more than once a year. Enjoy what you have, because it's better than what most have. Off to play in the mud and snow again next weekend, yay STL!
Jay
