I'm having some trouble with my iPod and the Apple website hasn't helped much.

I've had this 3rd Gen iPod Nano for a few years, and I've never really had any problems up to now. Usually when I plug it into my computer with the USB cord it automatically opens my iTunes. But now, whenever I plug it into my computer nothing happens. It even says that my computer doesn't recognize the device. I went to the Apple website and it told me to restart my computer (which is a PC, by the way), use a different USB port on my computer, turn on hold button on and of, and few other things. All of them didn't work. The only thing left was restoring my iPod, but I can't do that because in order to restore it I need to have it connected to my computer and my iTunes. I can't do that because my computer won't even recognize my iPod. What can I do to fix this???

Have you tried simply opening iTunes first then connecting your ipod? Have you tried forcing your ipod into DFU mode while connected to your PC? Have you tried powering off the ipod then powering it on while connected to your PC?

It does this with mine too and i can't figure it out... I have to open Itunes and it will find the device... But for some reason the computer recognizes my iPod as a Camera.
