There's a great book out there called "Who moved my cheese"? A great read, and short. So far the APPA hasn't been challenged, perhaps it's time. I don't see the NPPL's feathers getting ruffled here.

Competition is a GOOD thing!!

no one has any interest in debating anything with you publicly on the internet.
A debate would be a discussion of two opposing viewpoints. If someone says two D1 players played on a D3 team because of the "way APPA ranks people", and I point out that that is not true, that's not a debate, that's a correction of a factual error.

You have made a few claims about your new registration system. For example, you've claimed that you have "plenty of player data and records to work with" and "sandbagging will not be any more of a problem in the NPPL than ANY other league". You have 2,486 player participation records from the USPL 2009 season. The APPA system has 164,384 player participation records going back to 2003. The NPPL "system" is so advanced that the best way it has to determine a player's classification is to ask them. The APPA system publicly displays rosters, includes the player's history, automatically validates player and roster classifications, and is used by every other major league in the country. To suggest that sandbagging is no more an issue in the leagues that participate in the APPA system than those who participate in the new "system" is, well... I'll follow your lead and let the players determine the right word.

APPA is a system that has been developed over 7 years, built from the ground up specifically to handle registration and operations for paintball tournaments. The NPPL system currently consists of a page that asks for a players name, address, the class they think they are, and their money, and another page that asks for the team owner's contact information, the names of the players and the classification the person filling out the form thinks they are, and their money.

While I understand why no one would want to "publicly debate me on the internet" about this, if you're going to claim that the "system" NPPL has in place is as good as APPA at preventing sandbagging, or doing many of the other things APPA does, I feel obligated to point out why that is not the case. If you just want to say APPA didn't meet NPPL's needs and you've chosen to go in a different direction, you won't hear another word from me.

It's not just the NPPL that's affected by this. It's also all the other regional and local events and leagues that need standardized classifications. As much as I think there are things the APPA could to better (open sourcing the data would be a phenomenal step forward), the standard is highly valuable and helps the sport. Conversely, the NPPL moving back to a closed system appears to do the opposite.

well they already have over 65 teams signed up, and since youre such an expert at what this new system is would you mind explaining in full detail what it is and exactly how the new ranking system works?

lol nobody likes what he has done, yet The major leagues {all but one} are using it. Local leagues love it because it cuts down on sandbagging in the lower divisions.

I've never been that big of a fan of chris', but he has a legitimate system that works. Its been proven.

Well sir, that's because of the lack of options presented. New ideas breed new opportunities all around, plain & simple. The APPA is not the end all on the registration business. Healthy competition raises the bar in every aspect of the game. One gun manufacturer? No. One hopper manufacturer? No. One clothing line? No. One league? No.

Everything can be improved on, all the time. The most hungry will always survive. Fact.

Hardly...more like I better post this because everything Chris has said is 100% correct and perfectly countered the NPPL statements that were made.

Honestly though, the NPPL's registration will work and get the job done for their tournaments.

However, it also is a step back in standardizing the ranking process to all leagues. Last year I was able to use my NPPL ID card paid through the APPA for the WCPPL. I don't know if that will be available to do this year. I guess that's a question I need answered. Will I be able to use my NPPL ID card for other leagues (and vice versa)? Or will I need to spend more money and purchase a separate ID card for the NPPL and whatever other league I play?
