mq valve

yes, i plan on turning to the dark side of pump.

question:

in pump guns, does it really matter if it's an mq1, or mq2? i have found mq1's for about half of mq2's. i'd like to save some money on it.

thanks for any help

nothing wrong with mq1's. just dont tighten down the ivg to far or you might crush the noid.

I can't see there being much difference. Probably just improved battery life.

well mq1 had a exposed noid where the mq2 is fully enclosed. also the mq2 come with a brass valve, not sure if the mq1 do.

There's actually not much chance of crushing the noid with the IVG, the main thing that crushed noids was the cocking rod being screwed too far into the spacer. There was no protection for the back cap of the noid, which got pushed in.

The brass valve was seen in early mQ1s (blue noid) and mQ2s. They were aluminum (silver) for most of the mQ1 run.

Performance wise, I doubt you'd see a difference, especially in a pump. Though I've only ever owned an MQ2...and it's awesome.

Pretty straight forward. Just make sure to install it right, check the Orings and lube it generously. Just about plug and play

also, what kind of efficiency will i be looking at? i only have a 13/3 and need at least 50 shots per tank to last me a few games

Well considering I get 1900+ shots off a 68/4500 on my MQ'2'd E-cocker tuned for 14-15bps (tuned for 290fps), I'd say efficiency will be the least of your concerns on a pump gun, lol.

I have never been able to match the efficiency of the MQ-valve with a spring/hammer setup, and those are already quite efficient when well-tuned. My Mq'd E-cocker is more efficient than my Trilogy pump, even though it's a semi, for example. The way to tune for maximum efficiency with an MQ valve is to run a lowish dwell, like 3ms, and then adjust your pressure accordingly. I run a dwell of 4ms, with around 220psi to achieve 290fps, and it is still extremely efficient...the higher dwell/lower pressure softens the recoil and is softer on paint, as well as quiets the sound signature.

I get a solid 150 with my 13/3, and that's without super anally tuning for efficiency.
