Before this gets a tiny bit silly are we forgetting the point that this is a game..... not some exact science and all we can do as refs is give a honest translation of how we understand/interpret the rules during a live game in a fair manner.
All refs have "heard" shots and I must have heard thousands and when I do I check the player and if I see any paint that I believe could have been left from what "heard" he would be gone.
If I failed to find any he would still be a live player and I would let him continue.
Are we now saying that bouncers also count as valid hits...... because if it does not leave any paint that is what it is....... Maybe
