so that you can shoot any paint that you want out of the box. The gun was marketed in europe and across the US as an "ion on steroids out of the box", paint sizes in europe are bigger, and field paint varies across the US, so they just gave the biggest freak insert available. better than a .682 insert where over half of the paint you would shoot would be larger and break in the barrel. Basically, it was the safest size they could include.

there shouldnt be, except that the stainless should be less prone to scratching and bending. there might also be some temperature tolerances with the metal expanding or contracting in the cold, but I dont have my period table with me, and I don't think itll make that big of a difference anyways.
