When you dive you want to have your gun in one hand and pointing at least higher than 180 degrees so you dont get in a barrelful of dirt and hit the ground with your hands/arms firstt so you dont belly flop.
Also, once you hit the ground take off crawling as fast as you can to wherever you wanna be in the snake.
Last thing, make sure you dont overdive it or underdive it or otherwise youll most likely get shot out. (you probably already know that)

Also for diving in the snake, in addition to what Spyders said, make sure that your palms are facing up during the dive.

When running to dive into the snake, keep your momentum moving you towards the snake. Don't keep your head down and stare at the ground. Look up at the streams of paint coming at you and either speed up or slow down so you don't get shot. Before you dive, get the top half of your body really low to the ground. Then start your dive. Make sure your forearm hits first, and I use my other hand to brace my body for the rest of the impact. Then your chest should hit next. Make sure you don't smash your barrel or hopper into the ground. You don't wanna get dirt stuck in your barrel or break paint in your hopper. Then as soon as possible start crawling up the snake. As soon as you reach the point of the snake where you wanna stop, get in tight. I always peak down the wire really quick to see where they are and if you can keep moving up. Once they have you locked in a bunker and you can't bump up any farther start getting your cross-field shots. Over 90% of the field is on your inside so you want to look there most of the time. Shoot out anyone else down the tape and bump as far as you can. Keep looking crosfield once the tape is cleared and keep your communication up with your teamates. Let them know you just cleared out the tape and most of the inside of the field. Let them do the rest, you killed enough people.

Listen to him Exept for that last part, once you clear the tape, thats when you bump up the snake as far as you can and then pop up to shoot cross field. Once the tape is cleared for one team, the majority of kills come from the snake player on the other team.

Yes iKill is right, always have your forearms hit first. if you let your knees hit first your gonna buck over your self annd probably sommersault but fail. You might think its cool bt everyone else will be saying "What the **** was he trying to do?'' and then you will get shot

I think by thumbs you mean palms.
You should always keep your palms facing the sky

I play mainly woodsball because its closer and $5 cheaper and I often find myself pinned down while trying to advance. How do I advance to get a better shot off at people about 50ft-100ft infront of me without getting shot. Also, if I'm pinned down in a bunker with at least 2 people infront of me, and I want to keep from getting surrendered, how do I tag them first?

Best Snake Advice that i can give you is never stay in S1 for more than 20 seconds. Get into S1 headcheck get a G or so if you can and get up to S2/S3
