Cool Steps to setting up a team?

Me and some friends are getting a team together. We've played a tournament together and did very well. We've got a name and logo but we want to start CFOA 3-man series in March. What should we do before then? Get custom jerseys? Banners? What?

Jerseys and banners and all that dont make your skill level any better. Just practice your ***** off in the off season. Play teams or people that are better than you over and over again. Thats the key to being a good and well known/established team.

Save money for paint+admission, don't worry about jerseys and other "flashy" gear.

Jerseys and things like that do help out with the mental motivation. It would be nice but the most important thing is Money and practice. Get your team involved more in tourneys and maybe start your team thread in pbnation. Post up pictures and ect.

I know to practice. we've got that covered (2 times a month). Paint isn't a problem. We ref at a local field and get paint for that. They would like to look a little more serious for CFOA ( we got laughed at at our last tourney).

You should get custom Jerseys then. eye2eye.org does some nasty jerseys real cheap too AND to make things better they don't charge you for the "full" custom crap. Get them your team color no duh... Of course to be taken serious you have to play the part too.

Well you should have some help from other team members. Have a "Jersey Jar" put money in there when ever u can. Have some friends Design your logo on Illustrator so u can send the vector image to the people that make your jerseys,Banner Ect... I can do that for free since iv been working with vector's my whole life. www.paradoxpremium.com For an example of my work. Check out the store.

I hope when you mean 2 times a month you at least mean that you drill at home by yourselves. you know...snapping in a mirror, running and gunning, sliding/diving etc. twice a month might suffice for team play but if your trying to be serious you need to ramp up your practice. Right now I practice with my team every sat, and the other 6 days im drilling at home with my roomie/other teammate. You dont need to drill this much though. we are really addicted to it. But 2 times a month total is nowhere near what you should be doing.

He said he was at the d6/d5 level (I assume that's what was meant?) so I think a couple times a month is sufficient. Get that going consistently then start ramping it up to weekly or 3 times a month (if you can afford to). Try having some structure around practices, just don't go out and play points over and over, drills, running/diving/sliding, and sometimes just talking strategy. Hardest part is going to be keeping your same group of people playing together consistently.

Good luck.

Justin

If you could afford banners and jerseys it would be a nice touch. It isn't a necessity though, I myself don't even have my team jersey yet. Been apart of it for about a month now. Practice a lot, don't go buying fancy things for your gun for looks. Make sure your gun works, going to a tourney with no gun is no fun at all. Also make sure you keep in good contact so everyone knows everything and anything having to do with the team. Good luck with your 3man.

We r only getting jerseys. when we get the $20-30 for a banner we will get one. We r not rich kids. We have to earn every penny we use to play.

Ya I hear ya. I guess I could have been a little more clear. When you first start out practicing at that level its about feeling comfortable together. So if you and your friend are doing drills together your well on your way. I have the luxury of being in the navy, having a really (i mean really) good deal with my home field, and my roommate is also on the same team as I. We both work nights so when we wake up we do drills all morning. The drills we do dont use any air or paint. If you (or anyone reading this) want, pm me and I can pm you some of these drills. I want to make youtube vids of these drills. we do when I get a chance.

First off. The number one thing, is practice. You can play tournaments, practices whatever and not have jerseys. It doesn't matter. People play PSP and USPL and **** with mismatching jereys. Its fine , its no big deal. Honestly, I think new teams with all matching gear look quite silly. Get jerseys when you do start playing something like CFOA. Wait for now. Practice. The better you are, it doesn't matter what jersey you wear. Jerseys, banners all that are irrelevant. As long as you get your *** to the field and practice, and play tournaments and stay active in the paintball community, you'll be known. Jerseys are a waste. Don't worry about any of that. Worry about shooting people. Thats all you gotta do. Practice. Practice against/with better teams and players as much as you possibly can. You need to do that, or else you won't get any better,or at least much better. don't worry about getting smashed, you'll learn from it.

1.Talk to the owner of the park, see what kind of deal they can cut you on practice paint, and entre.
2.start drilling and practiceing with the other established teams. (people are nicer then you think and are always willing to help)
3.Start practiceing against other 3man teams.
4.get some tourney experiance
5.Repeat the drilling!

remember you cant get good at anything unless you practice!

Yo, screw jerseys, that ****'s overrated and overpriced. Go to walmart and buy yourself some huge longsleeves and some iron on transfer paper, put your logo on said paper, and iron that **** on the the LS's = Instant win.

Vicious the pro team wears LS's, and they've won atleast one event every season they've played. Don't you wanna be like pro's?
