You can just make out the ripple in the metal by the "U" in the bottom picture where the bend is.. If you click on the picture once inside imageshack it will enlarge to the original picture size..

I picked up a used G3 not too long ago and the lever looks EXACTLY like this. There is a stress wrinkle right in the same spot as well. I have emailed DP, hopefully I can buy a new lever. I have no clue how this could even happen.
