Quick question

I purchased a Quest about 2 1/2 years ago from one of the Raiders (cant remember the name??) BNIB and when I set it to semi with the eyes on it works great but if I turn the eyes off it ramps. It never bothered me but now I plan on selling it and wonder if there is a fix. I beleive it is a spitfire but doesnt have all the settings. I tried a Ace manual and the **** wasnt right. Any help???

Does the board have the Raiders logo on it by any chance?

If so then you have the APE Raiders Rampage board. The thing with this board is that (assuming you haven't locked the other modes out) a tap of the power button changes the firing mode, rather than turning the eye off. You have to press and hold the button for a second or two in order to turn the eyes off without changing the mode.

If it is anything other than an APE Rampage board, then it sou8nds like there is an issue with your board.

No, it is a Lucky board, it has Lucky written on it. Not sure if it is a Spitfire or Ace though. Even if the tourny lock is on (and the eyes are off) it will ramp. The Spitfire manual seems to match the best when it comes to the dip switches and the settings , it just doesnt have some of the extra ****. No big deal the board works great as long as the eyes are on. You think it might be a cheater board or something to that effect? Not worth buying another board. Thanks

Bar some error in the boards programming, then this would be the other possibility - though not that well hidden.....

Certainly I have heard rumours in the past specifically relating to the Raiders having used cheat boards, but most people believe that it is the APE board that has the cheat modes on it (never found them myself).

When it's in the "eyes off" mode, does it actually turn the eyes off?

Well, I guess it is possible that some boards just ignore the information from the eyes rather than physically turning them off, but the end result is the same - when the board is set to eye off, the eyes no longer have any effect on the marker's cycle.
